  1. I wouldn’t complain either. But I think he goes to Iowa. They have Hodge and Imanaga coming back. I don’t see them being able to keep Brown on the team. There really is no one they can send down.
  2. Candelario is a switch hitter and he isn’t hitting now. But supposedly he has been hurt. If he doesn’t cost anything to work out there is no reason not to check on him. He hit 20 homers last year and “when healthy” would be the. Each bat the. In’s would have, at the very least. Besides being able to play 3rd and 1st.
  3. I think the Cubs were second in OPS against left handed pitching.
  4. How does this explain 1st inning troubles. That is not a 3rd time through. thanks for the recap👍
  5. Yes, that is fair. It is also fair to say the Cubs are not playing well now. It is an overreaction to howl at the moon about everything. I am not suggesting you are doing that.
  6. I think Brown’s problem is between his ears. I don’t think he is strong in the mental aspects if pitching. When he gets in even a little trouble he falls apart. His has a million dollar arm and a 10 cents brain.
  7. The site has been talking about Levine’s report for a few pages. I just thought you had to see it. Whatever. I do agree that I would like it to be Alcantara, but it doesn’t sound like it is, if Bruce is right.
  8. You do know we are talking about checking him out for free, right? No one would suggest trading for him. But why not sign him to a minor league deal and see if he is healthy. If he is he is at the very least a bench bat. If not, nothing lost.
  9. That is my thought. Of course, if he is hurt he is no use. But as a free lottery ticket, why not see if he wants to go to Iowa a bit with the chance of coming back to Chicago?
  10. If we are to believe Bruce Levine that something may happen soon do we choose not to believe a direct question to him with his direct answer? He was asked if it could be Alcantara and he said “NO”. Now, understand Bruce might not know what he is talking about. But if that’s the case maybe they aren’t close to anyone now and Bruce is wrong about that. Hard for me to get all excited about Bruce saying a deal is close because I believe him and then decide not to believe him when he says it isn’t Alcantara. But, that said, I do hope it is Alcantara. But it isn’t what Bruce is reporting.
  11. Reds are releasing Candelario. He has been bad this year and also hurt. Which might explain him being so bad. Is he someone the Cubs should look into. Doesn’t cost anything and at worst he could be a better bench bat. At best he can play 3rd and maybe hit 10 homers from now to the end of the season.
  12. Maybe I should have been clearer. I was only kidding. Of course that is not it. Guess I need to work on my sarcasm.
  13. Big news just broke. Fulmer called up and Pearson down. 🤮 Hope that wasn’t it😓
  14. I thought when asked specifically if it was Alcantara Levine said no, not him. I hope it is him, but I thought that was what was said.
  15. I think it has to be more than that if they do go with another bat. Otherwise just keep what you have. I don’t view Mastrobuoni any more favorable than what is currently there. So someone like Mastrobuoni is who we have already. Not saying they give up on Shaw. But maybe this year they do. Or at the very least improve the bench, not add another similar guy.
  16. Just don’t know what 3rd baseman are available. Is Rengifo someone to consider? I know the Cubs like Soriano. Or is there anyone on the Rockies worth considering, so they can get McMahon and that pitcher?
  17. Last I saw, just recently, Gray isn’t going this series. I think if the Cubs could win this one they should take 3 of 4 and might even sweep. I like this series for them.
  18. You’re not wrong about Hayes not hitting. What the hell happened to him? In ‘23 he hit 15 homers and looked like he might be a decent offensive player with great defense. He has been really bad since.
  19. I think he went on the 5th day twice this season. Each time he didn’t give up a run in that game. 5/2 then 5/7 then again in 5/14 and 5/19. He didn’t give up an earned run on the 7th or 19th.
  20. Keller and Hayes? I doubt it since both have years left. But that would fit young experienced pitcher and a 3rd baseman. And Pirates are selling, I am sure.
  21. Well it seems so many people think there is no way the Cubs carry a Tucker contract. Devers is pretty close to that sort of deal. So if they were checking in on Devers that would suggest they aren’t that worried about a high priced long contract.
  22. Ok, I just see he is listed as the starter.
