  1. Agreed. Wiggins is going to be the guy who eventually is the better prospect, but it is nice to see someone like Long also knocking at the door as a top 100 (back end) guy.
  2. They do. But to me there is no real need to trade Skenes. He is their star player and the guy the fan base can get behind. I think PR would be terrible for the Pirates if they dealt him. But, if they do decide to trade bim (which I doubt) I agree the Cubs are a good match. I think that has Jones not gotten hurt he would have been the one they would be trading.
  3. So do Wiggins and Long join the top 100? The pipeline is still moving guys along.
  4. That was a great Cubs trade. But let’s be fair, Cubs also gave up Jose Hernandez.😅 like I said about Keller, it is the Pirates, so you never know. The Ramírez trade is a perfect example. Why trade a 23 yr old 3rd baseman for unproven players. What year did they intend on contending in with that move.
  5. I don’t think they take a lesser prospect for an extra year of control. But, maybe🤷
  6. For those who just automatically assume a sweep when a real bad team goes on the road to plays a good team, look no further than to NY and check out what the Sox are doing to the Mets. Baseball is stupid. A bad team does win once in a while on the road against a good team.
  7. It is a crazy thought. I don’t want anything to do with Bauer.
  8. Walk me through why the Pirates would want Wiggins instead of Horton? I don’t see that argument. For that mattter, they may want both. But if only one I would think they would take the better prospect. I don’t think Horton, Shaw, Ballesteros and a young prospect gets it done anyway. I especially don’t think taking Wiggins instrwsd if Horton makes it more likely.
  9. They have some pitching coming up. And it is the Pirates. If people are going to discuss Gore and I even saw Lodolo mentioned, so why not Keller? What the rest of baseball considers value the Pirates may not. $15M is a lot for them. As Jason said, trying to figure out who will be available is a fools game. Amy pitcher on a non contending team “could” be possible.
  10. Why is Keller not going to be available?
  11. If the Cubs could get him for that package I would do it.
  12. I hope you are right. And if you are I would expect the Cubs to be in on all pitching options.
  13. I agree with all of this. I think they will be aggressive. They should be aggressive. I just don’t feel any TOR starters will be available. But like you said, a long way to the TDL and surprised could happen.
  14. I agree they should shop in the TOR aisle. I said I don’t think they will, but that’s because I don’t see any to be available. They cannot buy someone if he isn’t for sale. I realize things can happen between now and the deadline. So maybe someone opens up. Then, by all means, go all in for someone. Please give me a few examples of who you think might be available. I mentioned Peralta if the Brewers fall out of the race. I guess more teams can fall out and more pitchers become available. I am just not seeing it now. I am fine with a rental or a guy with control left. I agree they have the resources and should be all in on all options. Right now it is too early to figure out who that might be.
  15. That is my thought. But that probably still isn’t enough.
  16. In the end, yes, game worked out just fine. 😅
  17. Ok. I was probably looking at him based on several years past. He was once a decent pitcher. I just don’t think they will be shipping in the TOR aisle. For one reason, I doubt any will be available. I think they will end up with an innings eating MOR starter. (Keller type) But even with just throwing out Keller, I haven’t looked nearly as deep as you and others into his underlying numbers. I am just suggesting him as the type of guy I expect. MOR, innings eating pitcher who will give them a 3.75 to 4.25 era and keep them in games.
  18. I guess that is one way if looking at it. I saw Busch check his swing and the ball go through. I did not see that he guided the ball that way. But either way, after a game of a lot of hard contact the Cubs won on 2 hits with EV very low. Good win. I said before the game started that Marquez could be a tough match up. Maybe he is a guy they go after at the deadline?
  19. I said that before the game started. He was good in 2 of his last 4 and has been a very good pitcher in the past.
  20. Yep, and it made perfect sense. Only around 80 pitches. Also a pen down a few guys. It just didn’t work.
  21. Thank you. Guess I need better glasses or learn to read better. I know Bertz is a quality poster and knows what he is talking about. That is why I asked who that guy might be. “Settle” makes a lot more sense. 😬 Yes, I agree with his options.
  22. Who is the rental we would be talking about with Seattle? And why would Seattle trade a useful starting pitcher? I also agree it would be awesome to get a front end starter now. I just don’t see the reason for a team to be dealing one. As you said, maybe Gore. But that is it and it probably isn’t very likely. I actually hope the Brewers fall out and make Peralta available. He has a team option next year. So he is someone they might consider dealing instead of losing him after next year.
