  1. Right. WTF was the Guadians manager thinking? Glad he made that decision but, WOW!
  2. You beat me to this. As long as I can remember every team has to have a representative. So unless Peanut is 100 years old and remember back when he was a kid in 1933, he is obviously misremembering. I remember Steve Swisher made the all stars one year. That year was 1976 and he did not make it in his merit.
  3. They have Rodon and Fried going the first 2 games. 2 tough lefties. Not easy match ups. I am not saying the Cubs can’t win either of those games, but at home with those pitchers, the Yankees will be hard to beat.
  4. Busch should also make the team, but I am not sure he does. Hoerner too. But I think the surest all star on the Cubs will be Boyd. After that I am not sure Busch, Suzuki, Hoerner or Kelly get added.
  5. My guess is you watch FOX news or worse, all day long. Complete nonsense.
  6. I guess I am the only one who read this as if you were trying to be funny. The lol at the end of this response had me thinking you said this sarcastically because of how good Palencia had been until a little nervousness last night. Am I wrong, or did countless poster explaining to you how good Palencia has been and how no closer is perfect 1,2,3 all the time, miss the sarcasm?
  7. I like him, but he isn’t my favorite controlled starter that may be available. And he might cost a fair amount because of having control over him. I like Cabrera better, of guys who are surely available. Alcantara too. If they don’t want to give up that much minor league talent they need to look at Kelly, Gallen, Lugo. Problem is none of them are definitely available yet. Soon, IMO they will be, but not now.
  8. I mean, over the last few years the Cubs have had a minor league system pretty much on par with the Dodgers. Both are still top 5-10 in baseball. It isn’t like the Cubs don’t produce. The difference is LA uses their prospects as assets to trade for higher priced players while the Cubs hold on to them or move them for “value” major leaguers. Hard to ding the Cubs for Sasaki, but Dodgers getting him gives them an advantage. And something the Cubs can’t compete with.
  9. Thats not going to happen. Brewers will be close behind. All year, IMO.
  10. So much for that. Mets suck right now. Mets up 2-1 with one out in the 6th with a guy on first. Next 3 batters are left handed. Mets manager pulls the starter and brings in a right handed pen arm. Double, single, walk, grand slam. Brewers up by 4.
  11. At the game. Flags blowing a bit out to left. No cold front. Here with shorts and a jersey. Go Cubs. First game of the week. Going again on Saturday.
  12. At this point I would rather Kelly than Gallen. Don’t care how old Kelly is in comparison to Gallen. Both rentals anyway.
  13. How expensive is a rental? Do we know? Kelly and Suarez for Brown and Long or Triantos? Too much? Not enough? I don’t think those two warrant losing Cassie, Wiggins, Ballestaros, Alcantara or Rojas. Maybe any two prospects after those?
  14. Not really a cold front. Game time temperature is 80. Wind not much of a factor for tonight.
  15. If it cost that much for two rentals I don’t think the cubs make that deal.
  16. I think until his last start Horton has been a much better rookie than Shaw. He pitched fairly well, IMO. Yes, he does still need some work but he wasn’t a liability in the rotation. Shaw, except for a few weeks, has been a liability in the line up. To me the biggest issue with Horton would be depending on him the rest of the year. His innings could become a problem.
  17. Love to get Suarez too. But can’t make Az trade right now and at what cost? What do you trade for 2 or 3 months if Suarez. He is a rental.
  18. Anyone off the Horton bandwagon was never in it from the start. Speaking for myself, I would like to see Wicks get.a few starts so the Cubs can limit Horton’s innings, not because I thjnk he is doing poorly. Plus, Cubs started two lefties against the Cardinals and they each threw a shutout, so why not start another? I think Bertz suggested the same thing and based on previous posts from him, I do not think he is jumping off Horton either. As for any other posts, several posters who are “jumping off” honestly, where never in.
  19. Nico hit 2 in 3 games. Enough said. I hate that park.
  20. I just don’t think Az is selling just yet. And after looking again, I really don’t want McMahon. I would rather go with Castro and at the very least he would be bench help. But probably start at 3rd a bit too.
  21. I get your point that Suarez should be someone they are after. But there are other upgrades with lesser guys. I would take McMahon if he came for a low level prospect. And he shouldn’t cost more than that. He is not great but still does have some pop in his bat. And he is also good defensively. I would also be okay with Castro of the twins. I am sure there are a few more. Yes, 100%, Suarez should be the reach guy they consider. But they can improve at 3rd with a lesser deal too. I do not see Hayes improving them.
  22. Thank you both for easing my concerns a bit. They are still my biggest fear, but if the Cubs do win in the low 90’s they should be fine.
