They are. But they are an interesting team. They might trade even in the race, but might want guys to help them now. They also view players differently than most organizations. So if they like Ballasteros and also Brown maybe they do something with those two guys for Bradly and Fairbanks. This is just an example. Maybe they feel Ballasteros can help them now. Maybe they want Cassie and want him I. The line up now. Bradley isn’t going to be cheap. I’m not saying that is a fair deal. I honestly don’t know. But IMO if the Rays traded guys now they would want guys they think can help now, back.
He is an odd fit. But the story suggests it was Bradley and Fairbanks mainly. Diaz sure can hit, and he would be a great platoon for Busch, but he is too good a hitter to come off the bench as a pinch hitter and play 1st against lefties.
Fair. Just making you aware it was did 2. I think I would trade Brown for those two. I value your opinion and understand why you don’t see Suarez as big an upgrade as many do. But I can’t help but love the idea of his bat in the line up. However, I would also be ok with Kelly in one deal and Castro in another and not lose Brown.
Assad is not the answer, even if he comes back perfectly healthy, unless the question is who could be a good 5th starter on a Cubs team that wants to contend for the WS, To that, the answer could be Assad.
All 3 of those guys would cost a decent amount of young talent. Bradley has a lot of control left. But the Rays seem to value prospects differently. So who knows who they want.
I would be fine with any minor league pitcher except Wiggins if they got both Suarez and Kelly. None of the top 5 bats in the system either. So no to Cassie, Ballasteros, Rojas, Alcantara, or Long as well as Wiggins.
Little has been bad lately. And he isn’t even throwing as hard as before. And, tbh, he shocked even before this. No idea why he gets so much love here. He is the Cubs version of the back up quarterback.
This is so not true. I do not agree that the Cubs won’t win the division without those upgrades. This is a huge overreaction to the Brewers playing well right now. I don’t expect the Brewers to go away. But I also think the Cubs can win the division without all the moves you are suggesting. They are a better team than the Brewers as they are now.
Also, tbf, Cubs were one hit or one less baserunning mistake away from scoring 3 or 4 on Crochet. They didn’t do a bad job against him. 8 hits and a few walks. Just didn’t get the big hit. Stuff happens. Move on.
They shouldn’t dfa him, but you are exaggerating his effectiveness. He has dodged a lot of bullets when he pitches. I have no idea why CC doesn’t use Brasier more. Pressley shouldn’t be dfa but he isn’t nails either
True. I guess I just don’t agree with the notion that Jed will be shopping down a tier from the top “because that is what he always does”. He doesn’t always do that at the TDL.
