  1. "one of the top catching prospects in baseball"? i didn't know there was anybody else even in the discussion. lol yeah he didn't want to go all in on admitting he was wrong. Contreras was the best catching prospect in baseball after 2015, and this season he's just run and his from all other contenders for that title.
  2. I would be pretty surprised to see Contreras getting 60% of the starts. I'm guessing we'll see a roughly equal split among the three, with Miggy & Willson getting a little bit more reps to give Ross extra rest.
  3. can't wait til the Cubs shock everyone and take the top juco bat instead.
  4. This website I believe has pictures of the views for all the Cubs-owned rooftops. https://www.wrigleyrooftopsllc.com As far as getting into the game, in my experience, while it's always a good time, it's not quite the same as being in the park itself, just because you're a bit more removed from the action.

  6. lol Vinestal never misses an opportunity to get in on a persecution complex.
  7. It really seems like there's been a decent enough amount of good new posters over the last couple seasons. Maybe they go unnoticed because, unlike the bad posters, they don't call attention to themselves with a bunch of stupid posts.
  8. Man, Beef is just a disaster behind the plate.
  9. For real, though, after a dong, now I'm starting to wonder... I wouldn't be upset if you wrote an article exploring the idea.
  10. Oh I'm sure that they think they have a chance against Hendricks. I mean, we know what Hendricks can do, but I don't think there's a league-wide understanding of his ability. I was just saying to my dad the other day, Hendricks had to be really frustrating for fans of opposing teams that don't get to watch him on a consistent basis. He seems like he should be so hittable, but he just mixes and locates so well. Like, if Hendricks was doing this against the Cubs, the game threads here would be all doom and gloom about the lineup being unable to hit 89 mph fastballs.
  11. Anyone interested in a pair of bleacher tickets for tomorrow's game? Just looking for face. I was planning on using them, but something just came up.
  12. Yeah, but that Jo is long gone. Yeah, but this Jo isn't. http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Joakim-Noah-Claps-at-Chris-Bosh-and-Mario-Chalmers.gif This is definitely the right move for the Bulls. It's just that Jo is one of the few likable guys from last year's team, and it's sad to see him go. He's definitely a shell of his old self, though.
  13. I'm really going to miss Jo on the Bulls. Maybe my favorite post-Jordan-era Bull. And yeah, like a lot of people, I hated the pick at the time. But then he started winning me over by doing stuff like this: http://gif.mocksession.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/NOAH.gif
  14. the Leake deal seems like a reasonable precedent, and Mella's decent but he's never been a top-100 prospect, so i'd think that would be do-able unless of course Hill pitches at this high of a level for 2 more months, then you're looking more for a Cueto-type package i'd think If the intent is truly to make him a reliever, I'd pay a slight premium to acquire him early. That way they can get him in the organization and manage his workload the way they'd like to, rather than watch him throw 6-8 inning outings every 5th day as the A's showcase him to the rest of the league. I'm worried about him running out of gas at some point with a starter workload, so the sooner the Cubs can get him pitching on their preferred schedule, the better.
  15. I really have no idea how to value a guy that's pitched 162 major league innings over the last seven seasons and is set to be a free agent at the end of the year.
  16. Can Rich Hill be had without giving up any top 5 prospects (Contreras, Torres, Almora, Eloy, Happ)? Would two prospects in the back half of the top 10 get it done (say, Jeimer and Underwood), or am I underestimating his market value?
  17. I had a similar thought a few days ago, but then I dismissed it on the basis that Tanaka is still fairly young and signed through 2019. I'd guess they think he's important to them competing in upcoming seasons.
  18. I went reliever, mostly because I truly don't know what SPs are going to be available. Looking at the teams that are likely to be selling based on the standings today, no names really jump out at me as potential SP targets. Going into the season, Gray seemed like a nice option, but I don't know what's going on there. Hammel makes me nervous and I would love to find an upgrade, but I don't know if it's out there. Picking up another late inning reliever to come into games in the 7th or 8th, keep Strop & Hector fresh, and bump everyone else down a slot could be a nice solution. Hammel and Hendricks can go 5 or 6 and then Maddon can dip into the pen knowing he has quite a bit of depth to work with. Disclaimer: I know the pen has been really good already, but I like the idea of shortening games by putting together one of those three-headed monster pens like KC or NYY, with guys like Warren and Grimm to throw on top of them.
  19. Jimmy Nelson's ERA is between Gerrit Cole and Cole Hamels, he is a good pitcher. Even if they were all terrible, this is baseball, these things happen. Please proceed to get a grip at your earliest convenience. Okay - this isn't a fullblown meltdown here. I'm allowed to express mild disdain when our offense goes on a three-game slump against three pitchers who combine for league average performance, just like any other user. You're (fairly) being judged on your entire miserable body of work. It's like the phrase "get a grip" was literally coined for you.
