  1. Okay, ok, 2 out of 40,000 people were jerks!! 3 tops!
  2. Selig helping out his best buddy Reinsdorf. Two absolutely reprehensible men.
  3. Everyone gets a trophy!! It's tee ball all over again. The NFL system is terrible.
  4. A lot of that may have to do with how the Yankees align their defense. From what I've heard, they align their left side of the defense differently than the rest of baseball.
  5. Boo hoo! Those big bad bullies will make fun of me! Funny, that seems to be alot of people's attitude on this board recently. Right, we should be cheering for all those Cubs games going on right now instead. Or at least not have every post on the board be about the White Sox.
  6. Yes, if by Aubrey Huff you meant Jonny Gomes. Only if Johnny Gomes is Latin for Adam Dunn.
  7. I decided long ago that I was rooting for the Cardinals against the White Sox. Cardinals fans are nowhere near as obnoxious and don't have an obsession with the Cubs like White Sox fans do. If the Cardinals won a world series, they'd cheer amongst themselves for weeks before they decided to say anything to a Cubs fan. The first thing that'll happen if the Sox win the world series is I'll get about 15 calls on my cell phone and every Sox fan I know will come up to me and start screaming in my face.
  8. I lost a bet and had to wear a White Sox jersey out last night. I still feel dirty. And I've read all the articles about it being for the whole South Side, that they represent my way of life. #### that. They're an obnoxious team with an obnoxious manager and the worst personality in sports this side of Loria as their owner. May the Astros get hot and take it in 6, in embarrassing fashion.
  9. Ohhh no we suck again!
  10. What opportunity? Nobody had the opportunity to get Mazzone out of Atlanta except his lifelong friend. Quit blaming Hendry for options that aren't available. Exactly. Mazzone wasn't leaving Atlanta except to work with his friend in Baltimore. His statements now and in the past make that perfectly clear. There are plenty of things to criticize Hendry on; this isn't one of them. It's ridiculous to even make the assertions here. we missed the opportunity to make a sales pitch (like the Yankees did). you never know what happens until you throw your hat in the ring. It's ridiculous to assume we don't have a chance without taking one. It would have cost us nothing to try. Well, we know what happened to the Yankees. They were rejected.
  11. Anyone think Sing is a viable option for a right handed bat off the bench?? I'm sure Dusty wouldn't do it, but in an ideal world anybody like that idea?
  12. Konerko is the slowest non-Molina in baseball. He would be horrendous in the OF. I think the White Sox bring him back overpriced.
  13. VORP takes their present position into account. There is no doubt in my mind that A-Rod can still play an above average SS. There is doubt in my mind that Pujols can manage an above average 3B. He never even amounted a full season over there, and I understand Rolen's acquisition necessitated his move, but it's not like he was playing every day over there beforehand. In the small sample size he played there, he looked a little error prone as well.
  14. I don't think Stone would be a very good GM.
  15. Goony sums it up well. It's all about value over the likely replacement. I understand that's what VORP attempts to do, but I see it being a lot easier to find a guy to put up decent numbers at Pujols's position than at A-Rod's. My opinion on this could be swayed based on whether Pujols could play a passable 3B. A 3B with Pujols's #s vs. a SS with A-Rod's #s would probably give the edge to Pujols IMO, but the fact that A-Rod can play a good SS definitely gives him the nod for now.
  16. I am completely opposed to adding a 2nd wild card team. It starts getting too gimmicky having the 2 next best records making the playoffs, and then seems to take away from the pennant races down the stretch. The Indians/Red Sox and Astros/Phillies this year would've been meaningless and it would've been just one more team making it without winning the classically defined goal of winning your division. You think people are raising hell now? Wait til the 5th best team in the league wins the world series.
  17. Adding a 5th playoff team only diltues things further.
  18. I think the fact that the White Sox made the world series disproves the hot team theory. And it's not like they're some huge juggernaut that could overcome coming in a cold streak either.
  19. Joe West is a horrible confrontational ump as well.
  20. 3/39 will not get it done with Giles. Considering he's 35 years old, I think it will easily get it done. I could be wrong. Heck, the best player in baseball (Pujols) only makes 14.2 mil per year. You think Giles is worth that kind of money? But I thought Pujols gave a hometown discount ;) Seriously though, Pujols's contract bought out arbitration years and gave him long term stability, it's apples to oranges. Oh, and the best player in baseball makes about 25M a year, not 14.2
  21. Good luck to the Astros. They are clearly better than the Cards. Now go sweep those White Sox!! Well, they were better this week, anyway. I think that 162 games proves out the "better team", but it doesn't win championships for you. Good luck to the 'Stros! The Stros were a better team for the postseason. You can't complain about having a team not built for the way the league is set up.
  22. So unless all of your arguments was that the Cubs should've hired Perlozzo as the manager in the past couple weeks, your anger is misplaced. I don't think expecting Hendry to even inquire about his availability is too much to ask. Do you want Hendry to inquire about the availability about every top of the line coach/manager/player/prospect in baseball?? And how does anyone know that it wasn't widely known that Mazzone wasn't available short of the O's?
  23. Swiped from BTF via the Cumberland Times in Cumberland, MD. So unless all of your arguments was that the Cubs should've hired Perlozzo as the manager in the past couple weeks, your anger is misplaced.
  24. Other people as dumb as Hendry: John Schuerholz Mark Shapiro Billy Beane Theo Epstein Terry Ryan Dave Dombrowski Bill Stoneman Kevin Towers Paul DePodesta Doug Melvin
  25. 1) Combined? Yes. You have two average to below-average offenses and if they both made it you would probably see the worst total offensive output ever in the Series. 2) It would be among them. I have a hard time believing anything will top Marlins/Indians in that department, though. 3) If the Cards win this series, Astros fans officially fall into the Cubs/Indians camp of tortured fans (albeit in a lower spot since they've been around a shorter time). Lowest rated was Angels/Giants in '02 followed by Yankees/Mets in '00 and then I believe Indians/Marlins.
