  1. Anybody see the ridiculous Steve Phillips posing as GM of the Red Sox press conference yesterday?? And now he's going to do it for the Yankees today. It was quite possibly the worst television ever.
  2. How about: Baldelli to Philly Hill, Mitre and Wellemeyer to TB Abreu to Cubs (we pick up all his salary Swap out Mitre or Wellemeyer with a better prospect and I could see it. Most of these proposals in this thread look ridiculous.
  3. Joe Crede? What exactly has he ever done lol... unless you just hate him for being good in the playoffs lol. I understand all the hate for Pierzynski I felt the same way when he was a Twin but he is the type of guy you love when he is on your team. A jagoff?
  4. I bet the Royals players loved the game and weren't just playing for the contract. In fact they were playing for their lives in the big leagues. And yet they were the worst team in baseball.
  5. He's not a CF though. Or a particularly decent corner OF.
  6. And the Cubs intend to make him even less valuable by moving him to 2nd base. I don't think anybody debates that Neifi is a great glove, but in a lineup with so much uncertainty in the OF you can't afford to have a black hole like Neifi in the lineup. Especially with Dusty's propensity to bat him in the 1 or 2 spots.
  7. I don't know how I missed this obnoxiousness the first time around. Just because there are some world series memories in a park it makes it historic? Does Jack Morris's 10 inning shutout and Kirby Puckett's walk off HR make the Metrodome a historic ballpark?
  8. Well that'll be 6 months of my life saved from being wasted. I really hope this is a Womack in '05-esque rumor.
  9. And after reviewing the stats, Washburn will probably be the better value. Point still stands about the need for a lefty though.
  10. Washburn isn't as overrated and is a LEFTY. I believe that we need at least one lefty in the rotation. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Burnett but Washburn won't demand as much and probably won't want as many years as Burnett wants. Why? I never understood the fascination with having a lefty in the rotation. What exactly is the point?
  11. Ray Sadler went for Simon.
  12. man, imagine the posisbilities if we did not have that 9mil contract for Maddux. Then we'd have that 9M contract for Clement.
  13. Hey, he just robbed the Padres of a decent starter and money in exchange for a guy who stopped being good five years ago. Not a terrible idea. Although I can't believe they wouldn't at least entertain chasing Theo. This is the same guy that gave Christian Guzman a 3 year, 12 million dollar contact last year. Worse, something like 4Y/16.8M
  14. How bout the 35 caught stealings that could come with that?
  15. Why is the relative ability of the two teams defined as what happend in the last 7 games of the year. The Indians were better over the last 81, why not use that definition? They were 4 games better than the Sox in the 2nd half, and made up 8 games in pythagorean standings which are supposed to measure a team's true ability. The Indians will finish ahead of the White Sox next year barring injury problems. You forget how easy the Indians schedule was over the last month and a half. They beat up on the Rays/Royals/Tigers for a long time. The Sox played the Tigers 3 more times and the Royals 1 less. The Sox weren't exactly playing juggernauts themselves.
  16. And when he shows up before everyone else in Spring Training(like the last 2 years) it will mean....?
  17. Yeah, but Phil goes way over the top. "If it wasn't for luck I'd never lose." Gimme a break Phil, I've seen him play the same crap cards and win on them that he complains about other people playing.
  18. By that definition the Indians were 4 games better.

  20. Trading Lee for 2 prospects to me, no matter how good they are is giving up on '06.
  21. The Indians were a better team by the end of the year.
  22. I hate the fact that AL awards are always out before NL. Why not both at the same time? The NL has seniority, so to speak. They should have all their award winners named first. Hows that? Cause the NL's been around longer?
  23. Not purposely caused clubhouse problems, purposely made errors.
  24. You're right, anyone with a stats system for defense is SABRiffic. I'm walking away rather than being patronized by somebody who thinks reading a little BA makes him a statistician.
