  1. Great, now when they inevitably miss the playoffs the idiots in the media can blame it on not enough smallball.
  2. Don't. Reinsdorf made money hand over fist and will invest very little of it back into the team. He's just about a big of a scumbag as you'll find in MLB ownership, and considering his peers, that's really saying something.
  3. Spoken like a true Cardinal fan. Give me (a healthy) Beltran and Tejada and the Cubs wipe the floor with the NL. Try to keep things in context. Nobody said anything about Beltran and Tejada. It was an either/or discussion. Somebody made a point that Cuban would break the budget by a few million ($3-5 mil) in order to sign a guy like Beltran or Tejada. Nobody said anything about spending $26 mil to land BOTH of them. Cubs have Beltran OR Tejada in '04 and they're in the playoffs. I'd take that '04 team against any other team in the playoffs that year with a Tejada or Beltran in the lineup.
  4. That may be the Cubs situation too. Either Furcal or Giles. Oh I'm certain it is following the previous week or 2's transactions, and hey we all know how bad we need that leadoff guy so it's certainly Furcal!! Nevermind that Giles hitting leadoff would be a much better option than Furcal, he's a corner OF!!! He's not short and a minority, why would he leadoff?
  5. If there's one thing this team needs, it's a 7th starter.
  6. You honestly believe the Cardinals dont want Giles or arent interested in him? They are. Just more involved in pitching as of this minute.. With the reports of the Cards payroll, it's an either/or situation, not a wait and we'll get to you.
  7. So trade all our middling prospects iwth very little value?
  8. So she wears glasses but has a big heart. Good to see that Mark sees inner beauty.
  9. Minnesota. ;) I think he was going moreso for the implied "points to sig" And I think Tim's response with wink was a sarcastic not getting the point.
  10. Mulder's an orthodonist in the winter?
  11. Its really stunning how terrible MLB is at bringing in quality ownership. Granted, Loria came on board with the hapless Expos whom nobody wanted and MLB was desperate for an owner, but contraction would have been a better option. Then, you have the more recent failure in ownership selection by the clown who bought the Dodgers. Luckily, they seemingly struck gold with Moreno. But, he is not without his detractors as he makes his enemies in the Anaheim area. I honestly get amazed every time I think about how rich the owners are with some of the god awful decisions they have made over the years. Montreal wasn't as hopeless as Loria would lead you to believe. He sabotaged the team from the get-go. I'll contend til the day I die he was sent there by Bud to kill it. Miami just took a few years longer than they expected thanks to that pesky WS getting in the way.
  12. Ramirez is far superior to what Hill was, Sanchez far superior to what Bruback was, and Ramirez far superior to Lowell last year. The money the Sox are picking up is also far more than what the Cubs did.
  13. I'm not sure what else the Yanks have to offer in young inexpensive value. My thoughts exactly, what exactly were they expecting Oakland to want in return? Tony Womack?
  14. Whoever your source is, I'm sure he's better than mine. Wait, I don't know anybody... His source may be better, but his avatar isn't even close. Me love sweaters... I prefer the lack of a sweater. With regards to Sing, he was a minor-league free agent at the end of last season(Any player who's spent 6 years in the minors with a team without being added to the 40 man roster becomes a free agent) Essentially Sing was free to anyone without even the requirement of being put on their 40 man roster. Therefore it's gonna take a team with pretty much no foresight to take him in Rule 5.
  15. Not if he's being replaced by Eyre.
  16. I'd been thinking Macias all along, but the timing seems just odd to not to it with the others. I'm guessing Aardsma.
  17. Can I pull a Superman and reverse the direction of the Earth so as to go back in time, thus undoing the Neifi, Rusch, and Eyre contracts?
  18. This is in the New Jersey Star Ledger. here's the link (below advertisement): http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1132641043208490.xml&coll=1 "In addition to nearing a deal, Howry sprouted a 3rd arm and has decided to throw the ball with his feet from now on."
  19. Always liked the old logo. I'm interested to see what they'll look like. I had no clue there was an M and B in the ball and glove until like last year. I'm a fan of the logo.
  20. Just to cause more trouble(because I don't particularly like it) Metal isn't on there, but that doesn't make for as good a rant I guess.
  21. And 6 2-loss teams ahead of TCU!!! CRAZINESS!!! Seriously though, UCLA has played 1 decent team all year in Cal. They also got rolled by an absolutely horrible Arizona team. Barring a win over USC, I don't see their argument. Oregon has a pretty good argument with their win over Fresno looking more impressive after their showing against USC last week. But that loss to USC has gotta keep staring voters in the face. Fresno playing USC so close wasn't much help either. While it makes the win over Fresno look that much better, it also has to have voters questioning why Oregon couldn't hang with them after seeing the other 2 ranked teams USC played almost taking them the distance.
  22. I wanna say Lowell's one of the slowest guys in baseball. So no, he would not work in the OF.
  23. Ahhh here's what I was looking for.
  24. That was the most Irish completion in NCAA history.
