Why would he need to play 2b? We've already got 6 people on the team who can do that. He can play 1b and the corner outfields which would be useful. SSR was sarcastic I assume Thanks nd. I'm not sure I've been anything but cynical, sarcastic, pessimistic, or obnoxious in any post the past 2 weeks. You mean you weren't like that in the past? In the past I was just sarcastic and obnoxious. I've doubled my productivity.
I demand taht after each player does something well that they put a dunce cap on and sit on the end of the bench and think about how they played the last 2 weeks. And after that, we should pay somebody to shoot each of them in the toe.
JR's point is if somebody favors another sport's team over the Cubs, then they couldn't possibly be as obsessed with the Cubs as he is. I'd agree. I'd give up every other sport I watch for the Cubs.
Ryan, I quit going 4 years ago. I really don't miss it like I thought I would. I guess the whole "Wrigley" mystique has worn off. I also quit buying the Tribune and cancelled my Chicago magazine when I found out the Trib published it. The question is, would you be preventing yourself from enjoying Cubs baseball or from enjoying Wrigley Field? This is insulting.
I don't have as much of a problem when guys are doing it in the media, cause at least it's possible that it's a matter of gamesmanship and they're trying to get in a guy's head.(i.e. Cards checking the ball on Maddux while he dominated them) But it just blows my mind that he actually believes this himself, and is obsessed enough with it that he brings it up in conversations with a random Cubs fan.
yeah im 29years but it doesnt fit too well lately, and its not the way the cubs have been playin, i cursed the organization about 2 weeks ago and am kind of reveling in their play, its fun to watch the cubs play like this while feeling serious venom towards them Hmmm...that's a neat perspective, I think I should pick it up. I'd rather have evil joy than pissed off anger. My brother-in-law refers to it as "fun bad." Where you just don't care and you can laugh at just how shockingly terrible a team is.
Was gonna make a new post about this, but there's enough threads about the trash on the south side on this forum already. My buddy was in Minnesota this weekend. He saw Buehrle out at a bar last night and Buehrle is still holding to his Maddux is a cheater idea, saying: "he said maddux is the biggest cheater in baseball he said theres no way his 2 seamer can move that much w/out spittin on it" Backasswards hick.

Me: You know what I'm going to do about this? Hendry: What? Nothing! Because if I decide to stop going to games, some other jerk is just going to take my place and it won't hurt you in the bank account anyways, and all I'll be doing is preventing myself from enjoying the sport I love so what I am going to do is piss and moan like an impotent jerk, and then bend over and take it up the tailpipe. Hendry: You've been a fan of this team for a while haven't you?
Was it in the middle of a horrible time for the Cubs? And was the poll phrased Aren't the Cardinals way better than the Cubs? Cause that would be analogous.
Bad times. Baker, Wood, Mercker, Hawkins, and Alou all blowing up. But they had INTENSITY!! AND FIRE!!! AND GRIT!!! Wasn't that a team taht was easy to like, even if they did miss the playoffs, you knew they cared...No wait, everybody hated them.
Ahh, ye of the instant gratification generation. Maybe it will inspire them tomorrow.. Maybe not. With Dusty, we'll never even know what would happen. Maybe Dusty not raving like a lunatic will inspire the Cubs tomorrow. Maybe my crap will be green and smell like rainbow sherbet. And maybe we should look at where Dusty's act has gotten the Cubs, versus Ozzie's & the White Sox... Round and round we go. I guess Dusty should've thrown a bat rack on the field during the 2002 World Series. Then he'd be as decorated as Ozzie.

The coaches aren't fired because the front office doesn't see anything wrong with what they're doing. We're not scoring runs because we don't hit in the clutch, it has nothing to do with refusing to take a walk to get on base, or to work a count to get a remotely hittable pitch. We're not sending pitchers to the DL every year because of poor coaching, it's just bad luck.
Yeah, Nomar hated Dusty, and couldn't wait to get out of Chicago so he could start trying again. It explains why he all but begged Hendry to re-sign him at a discount.
