  1. Yeah, 90 years ago. Let's go back to that.
  2. Who cares about them relative to the '04 team. The '04 Cubs would be the best team in the NL this year. The point is this team sucks relative to the other teams in '06.
  3. when you have 3 rookies starting, there's a good chance 1 or 2 are going to suck. unless you're the cardinals, of course. maddux will turn things around tomorrow. well we should only have 2 rookies in a week and a half and just 1 shortly after (unless prior needs tommy john ) NJ Star-Ledger reports Prior needs his head amputated.
  4. I'm guessing that's him tossing the ball back to the ump. And the best part about his start was that he got through 5 in 70 pitches.
  5. I think it's important to note that on fly balls to Kerry Robinson, it's just assumed it will drop in awkwardly.
  6. Rusch for Floyd maybe since Floyd has been just awful this year.
  7. I'll be dumb and take the over.
  8. I too wanted Nomar back, but full disclosure wanted him here as a SS.
  9. Yeah, I'm glad the Celtics have sucked for years now, too. Yep, as evidenced by the fact that I'm a die hard Cubs fan, clearly I don't like the NBA because the Celtics are an awful franchise.
  10. How about ranging from a 1 to a 4 throughout your career? Jordan homers are hilarious. I'm glad that I have little rooting interest in basketball so I can see things without any bias and see how ridiculous everybody is about their favorites.
  11. This is the most fragile team you've seen in the past 56 years?? Even I've suffered through worse teams and I'm only 22.
  12. I hope the Pistons destroy the Cavs. I'm fairly confident they will.
  13. I went over this on here 3-4 months ago, this simply isn't true. With off days, each starter winds up seeing each other spot in the rotation about the same amount. That's fine...my greater point was that it's silly that anyone thinks that one team gets to routinely skip every other team's top pitchers. BTW: Your research makes it even more interesting that, as a Cardinal, Marquis has never faced a starter other than Maddux when pitching against the Cubs. Pretty weird, huh? Except when he faced Zambrano last year. Marquis's 3 starts against Maddux in '04 are hardly evidence of the gotcha you implied. Ask Wolf(I think), he was the one the subject came up with. With scattered off days throughout the season, injuries, and rearranged rotation due to rainouts, minor league call ups, all star break, etc. it only makes sense that pitchers would see different slots in the rotation all year.
  14. Being IMMATURE, and being a MENTAL MIDGET are NOT the same thing. People forget that Zambrano is still only 24 yrs old. And posters like synergy believe Zambrano should act older then his age. And now, I would not Zambrano, even for an impact bat. People forget the Cubs are more then one bat away from competing. yes they are a Cabrera and Tejada away from competing. They're also a horrible rotation away from not competing. And that's what replacing Zambrano with Rusch does. But, no, let's trade away our best starting pitcher BY FAR the past 2 seasons because he acts like a 24 year old.
  15. there is a ray of Hope its May 4 Derrek Lee will be coming back Wood is set to come back werent the astros 15 games under 500 at the end of may last year? we know where they went. hell they were 6 games under at the end of June Can people please stop citing the Astros? We don't have a rotation of Clemens-Petitte-Oswalt even if Prior and Wood come back healthy. Those 3 were pitching out of their minds the second half of last year. If we go 15 under .500 at any point in the season we are screwed. I guarantee it. I was going to say the same thing. So what if the Astros made a great comeback? We all know our manager and his willingness to make a bazillion double switches and give up in the 5th inning. And we're not the Astros! This team needs a spark... and Wood makes sparks. Phil Garner is also a horrible manager.
  16. At hitting Home Runs?
  17. You're going to lose your Cards fan card.
  18. Yes it is evidence that the WBC is not the cause of ALL struggles. (Actually there is no causation here, only correlation). However it is not evidence that argues AGAINST a correlation between the WBC and struggling pitchers. It merely shows that there are more factors than just one, that are associated with struggling pitchers. But if the only evidence are those struggles, and other similar non-WBC pitcher's struggles are shown, it's reason to believe there is no relation between poor starts and the WBC based on stat lines alone.
  19. That's an incredible trade. I got Jason Schmidt for Dan Wheeler last night. Holds are a category so it's not as insane as you'd think, but still pretty insane. I dropped Brad Wilkerson and picked up Farns to recoup my holds.
  20. Good thing the Red Sox and Yankees have no chance at the World Series.
