  1. I know it's not even a month into the season, but is it too early to start evaluating who I want to keep for next year, and who I'm going to cut bait on? For example if I have a lot of young guys with potential over the next few years, I'd probably get a lot more value trading them now for a better veteran than at the trade deadline. Of course with this I run the risk of cutting bait on a guy that'll show to be somebody I should keep if I had waited to deal him til August. Right now I identify V. Martinez P. Fielder R. Weeks J. Peralta L. Berkman B. Webb C. Zambrano F. Hernandez J. Verlander as my definite keepers. That leaves 3 spots for Delgado, Ensberg, Sheffield, Kinsler, Bedard, Street, Giambi and Gagne. Any theories?
  2. Drafting Nomar to be a 1B is a waste. His fantasy value is tied to his SS and 3B eligibility.
  3. Aurilia no doubt.
  4. There isn't a team in baseball that has the talent to make a trade for Willis and Cabrera without crippling their team.
  5. No, the Reds are horrible.
  6. That sounds awful.
  7. Probably the best thing for Day as he's had past success with them (while they were the Spos.) Don't know if it's still the same pitching coach, but there should at least be some familiarity for him.
  8. Well I'd quite like to win 35 out of 45 no matter what our record is.
  9. To really torque us Cardinal fans?? You guys got Rolen in a similar way. The Phillies at least got some serviceable players in Timlin and Polanco. Unlike the Pirates who got nothing of value Rolen was also valued far more at the time than Ramirez was.
  10. The early results aren't all positive, but at the same time, there's still time for him to develop into an effective major league player. Then again, that list is rather depressing, all things considered. Well that's not really all things considered unless we started counting 6, 7, 10, 12, 19, 20, 23, 29, 32. Nothing's a guarantee in the draft, I'm not gonna harp on Hendry for misfiring (which is incredibly premature) on one specific year.
  11. I was just reading earlier today that the Cubs were ranked first in defensive efficiency thus far this season. The negative of Jones to CF would offset the positive of Pierre to LF. Just as Podsednik had a ~20 run swing going one way moving from CF to a corner, Jones would swing the other way. Really seems like shuffling the deck chairs to me for no reason. You get a worse arm in RF, a worse arm in LF and a good arm in CF is the only real difference. It would seem to me that a LF would have more throws throughout the season than a CF would, and while I think Pierre is overrated by mainstream analysts defensively, I don't think he's much below average which I don't see Jones as being any better than.
  12. My redheaded friend loves him for the sole reason of the color of his hair.
  13. For some weird reason, it seems like the folks I know who drive stoned are better drivers than normal people ZZ?
  14. Miss JoJo's Circus????!?! What a travesty! How will you know what she learned today??
  15. Yeah I'll take the under on Dontrelle's win total. He's not Steve Carlton.
  16. Gotta intentionally walk Ensberg here. Pitch for the K against Wilson.
  17. MLB Gameday sucks.
  18. 58. They're not even the worst team in baseball.
  19. It's a great idea as long as your stashing him on the DL. If you have a lot of bench spots, it's not an awful idea if you had him there either.
  20. I can't see him starting enough to be worth anything in a non-keeper league. Not without an injury or huge slumps.
  21. Well I drafted Peralta in the 2nd round, so I'd say him. But then again I'm an idiot. I'm confused on the trade. You'd be getting all 6 for Peralta or Giles?
  22. If my son doesn't take to being a lefty, he's gonna don that catcher's gear at the age of 5. Cause you certainly don't need much talent for either of those spots.parenting>
