  1. Hill and Ozzie would need to work for the same organization for this analogy to make sense. Not really. MLB is the "law firm." All I'm trying to do is emphasize how the "pecking order" system that exists pretty much anywhere is magnified to the nth degree with MLB. That's why things happened they way they did. Not at all. MLB is the lawyer profession. Each team is the "law firm"
  2. So the "friggin idiot" Piniella should have moved Lugo to second so Gonzalez could play short? Cantu gets benched in that scenario? Or does he get moved to third, in which case it makes no difference because the same three players make up the infield except in different spots. Well he's an idiot for playing Gonzalez in the first place, but I guess a lot of that falls on Lamar as well for signing him. Huff or Upton should've been playing 3B, but you're right this one's more on Lamar.
  3. Hill and Ozzie would need to work for the same organization for this analogy to make sense. Instead Hill and Barrett work for the same organization, adn Hill is backing up the senior partner rather than standing by idly or "forwarding the email saying Senior partner Barrett was stupid."
  4. Or Latin players in general? "I didn't make it off the island by walking. I did by hitting." -Vlad Guerrero It's a common phrase repeated in Latin America to ballplayers that you don't walk off the island. It may be changing now with greater MLB team presence there, but it really won't affect the guys the Cubs are dealing with considering the way they feel.
  5. You see a difference between backing up your teammates in a fight and in the press?
  6. Gonzalez actually had a decent season last year. .269 .323 .410 It woulda been a lot more decent if he was at SS instead of 3B. But Piniella's a friggin idiot.
  7. And once again if Guillen was some crusader of baseball's unwritten rule book he would've torn into the 170 hitting Brian Anderson for throwing punches wildly yesterday. But he didn't. Cause he's a tool.
  8. This is like when people say you can't criticize a GM if you've never been there before. It's absurd.
  9. HAHAHHAAHHA Defending a teammate = headcase. Greg Maddux when he beaned a guy in retaliation his rookie year to stand up for a teammate = crazy headcase. Shoulda traded him for a 2B.
  10. ozzie managed his team to a world series. Ozzie ran his mouth a long time before he won a world series.
  11. Likely a blow out game.
  12. If a guy on the 40 man is sent to the minors at the end of ST it burns his option year. If you are on the 40 man you have to never play in the minors all season in order to not burn an option.
  13. I wish there were more people on these boards willing to be reasonable in a situation like this. Good post. There is nothing "reasonable" about condoning or glorifying what Michael Barrett did. He cold-cocked and sucker-punch another human being....a cheap shot that was totally unwarranted. This is not the NHL; and, there is no room for the so-called "reasonable" and "wink-wink" condoning of this carp that you both exhibit. In other words, "BULL-oney!" Point of order, Pierzynski isn't a human being.
  14. So Brian Anderson will be held accountable for acting like a tool? Yep. Any minute now....
  15. What is that up to 3 White Sox trolls in the past 12 hours? Imagine all the ones that didn't make it through the filter. Tools. *clicks banner*
  16. You'll fit right in.
  17. Well if this team can't play .600 ball the rest of the season, it isn't going to make the playoffs. And if it's not going to make the playoffs...again...then changes need to be made. But instead we're sitting our hands, hoping things magically get better, and the "breaks" start to go our way. I'm not taking issue with that, nor is Scott, as far as I can tell talking like that. The point is the poster replied to Scott, obnoxiously, calling him out for the quote, and he was dead wrong.
  18. '04 did a pretty great job of being a damn good team and hard to like.
  19. I assume Ozzie will be along any moment now to tell Brian Anderson that once he starts hitting over 200 he can start swining wildly like a douchebag, but until then keep your fists to yourself. Any moment now... Yep... Ozzie's a tool. And so are his kids.
  20. Slowed it down on Tivo and AJP turned his body when he saw Barrett getting up. Looked like AJP would have angled around Barrett before Barrett grabed him. HE TURNED HIS BODY TOWARDS BARRETT Ever turn to the side to avoid or get around someone? Ever turn towards somebody to initiate contact?
  21. Slowed it down on Tivo and AJP turned his body when he saw Barrett getting up. Looked like AJP would have angled around Barrett before Barrett grabed him. HE TURNED HIS BODY TOWARDS BARRETT
  22. I saw it on WGN and AJP was going after his helmet. His helmet clearly went behind Barrett. Yeah you could tell because Pierzynski was mouthing "look my helmet" and dragged his hands along the ground in a direct path towards the helmet.
  23. Nice prespective there, Joe Morgan. Ahahahahaha. Zambo. That's an old saying, and it's true in all aspects of life. As Cub fans, we know by now that our team doesn't follow the rest of the world. In the Cubbie universe, losing happens even when it shouldn't , couldn't, and most certainly wouldn't. But in the case of this season, we just suck bones and that's why we can't win. There's no mystery to 2006. It is what it is. Bad baseball. The point is, no matter how godawful this team has been lately, it isn't a .278 winning % team. Nor was it a 600+ winning % team that the record showed earlier in the year.
