  1. The Craig situation really reflects poorly on the Cubs handling of minor leaguers. You bump a guy down a level to convert him to catcher, that's fine. But why do you put him on a roster with other catchers who need the work? It makes no sense.
  2. Not to mention what happens when Prior and Miller come off the 60 day DL. That's 2 40 man spots that need to be cleared. AND WHY IS MIGUEL NEGRON ON THE ROSTER?
  3. Maybe Zambrano was being a team player and realized he was the best hitting option?
  4. Wasn't Zimmer a terrible manager?
  5. I'll expect to not see you when they miss the playoffs.
  6. Sometimes they will hold the appeal when the team is in NY. Sometimes they will bring the player to NY on an off day. Sometimes Watson will go to the player. I think the suspension starts immediately upon the decision of the appeal being made. It's no longer in NY. It can be done anytime. And if the player wins, he can choose when to serve. If it is upheld, he must serve right away. If the player wins there wouldn't be a suspension to serve. I assume he meant if it's reduced on appeal.
  7. Casey Blake starting in RF = Hacking Mass death. 1247th place.
  8. Thanks, I didn't know what made it official.
  9. I'm not so sure this is true. I believe there are clauses in MLB rules about illegal activities not referred to directly in the rulebook. The problem was there was no punishment in the rulebook with regards to steroids, I believe they were always illegal.
  10. There's pretty much no MLB official scorer that will call a play an error if the fielder doesn't touch it. Which is dumb, IMO, but it's not exclusively a Cub thing.
  11. It means bad bench players should never play because they're bad. If you're not going to play someone they shouldn't be on the team. Agreed, Womack, Neifi, and Bynum should not be on the team.
  12. Leo Mazzone never even made the majors. I'd love Zisk or Joshua as the hitting coach, but in the same I feel Rothschild has been undercut every step of the way by Baker, I think a new hitting coach would be too. Before you bring in a new hitting coach you need a total house cleaning of the Baker regime, otherwise you'd have 1B coach Sarge telling guys the exact opposite of what Joshua was telling them.
  13. I agree with your point that Hendry/MacPhail seem to have a limited # of people they deal with, but you're underselling most of those players. Guthrie was rather good with us, and Tapani was pretty much on his career averages, which is good considering we were the last team he played with. Coomer was as good with us as he was his career, Jones really hasn't been much worse here than he has the rest of his career, nor had Miller. Lawton was here for about 90 ABs, Merced even less. Ojeda was worthless no matter where he was, and Aguilera was far too old. Conclusion, yes, MacPhail/Hendry should get a little more creative and try to stop trading with the same 3 guys, but the results of what came from the Twins is not the reason that they should.
  14. and some AJ Burnett one's. In the AL East I think that's a chance worth taking. And some randomly acquiring a fungible Lyle Overbay moves.
  15. Obvious sarcasm, so you admit that acquiring and playing Bynum is a horrible decision. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, fool me repeatedly in agony, shame on Hendry and Dusty.
  16. How much experience did Ozzie have when he took the Sox to the promise land last year? He coached with both Montreal and Florida before being named manager. Yeah. Plus he's a family man and he took his family values into the dugout. What does that have to do with anything?
  17. He's number 1! He's number 1! He's number 1! He's #2. A big steaming pile of #2.
  18. have seen this happen too often recently, and dempster hasn't been a closer for too long. it's the billy goat, man. YEAH!!! IT'S A GOAT!!!
  19. Yeah the Schadenfreude is definitely my favorite.
  20. He just spent his whole day getting drunk at Wrigley. "There was no game there, the Cubs were in Florida" There's no games there when the Cubs are in Chicago either!! AHAHHAHAHAHHAHA!!! This moment brought to you by every weekend ever at home for me.
  21. That's a pretty incriminating list, right there. I forgot to mention: watch his team get worse every year since he has taken over. I know they had one more win in 04 then in 03 but they didn't make the playoffs and melted against two of the worst teams in the league in the final week of the season. I've gotta object to saying '04 was worse than '03. That '04 team makes the playoffs 9 out of 10 times. It was an immensely talented team, and I don't hold Hendry at fault for that implosion. The next 2 years, for sure, '04 was some bad luck (underplaying pythag by 5 games) and horrible managing.
  22. I remember Jim Bullinger doing this too. Cubs weren't quite as good that year as the Cards are this year.
  23. Nah, Corey was a pretty efficient base stealer here 86/109
  24. Manny is just a horrendous fielder as well. There's no question Pujols > Manny
