  1. What are you wearing? Mr. Foley, leave me alone. Hahahaha. Nice one Goony and CubinNY. In relation to the thread, it is hard to tell if this is true or not. Granted, we know there's been speculation about the sale of the Cubs, but I don't know how how reputable the source is. Nothing against you, mjuedes, but we here at NSBB have seen our fair share of people lying or giving out misinformation on the board. On a nice note, welcome to the board mjuedes!
  2. ESPN News has the press conference listed as a program alert. They will air it live at 1 ET/12 CT.
  3. SHOCKING! But you'd think seniors in high school, who I know are nowhere near as busy as I in many respects, could find the time to type up a three page paper, considering they already had it written. Whatever, I enjoy the free lab-time. EDIT: Irony- complaining about people not finishing a writing assignment properly, in a post filled with errors. I taught seniors my first year. I feel confident saying that they made more excuses in that one year about not completing papers and assignments than all my middle schoolers have in the past five years. As a high scool senior last year, I would have to say, yes, I believe that.
  4. I think they'll make an initial offer. When that is surpassed by all the other bidding teams, they'll shrug their shoulders, say "we tried" and sign Wade Miller to a 4 year extension.
  5. Son of a %$# :x Dreams of Mark Cuban owning the team crushed.
  6. I wouldn't say insane, but they are pretty darn good. I wonder if he would be able to translate those numbers over here. He pitched pretty well in the WBC didn't he?
  7. Wow, just heard about this in the NSBB live hockey draft. I hope this paves the way for an overhaul this offseason. It would be a nice change of pace to go into a season with a competant president, manager, and GM.
  8. Actually, now that I look at my team, I think I'm ok to start the season, though 2 of my goalies are over the hill and I don't have much in the PIM category.
  9. I assume you mean AL. Well, the Sox blew it, so I guess it was the Tiger's turn.
  10. If all of those scenarios occur, I will become a full fledged Yankee fan.
  11. Granted he's small, so wouldn't that make his 18 homers last year a little questionable? He also only hit 3 homers after the break. Also, what about Jay Gibbons? He's always been a 20-25 homerun hitter, nothing special. A friend of mine guessed he might have taken steroids to help him heal faster from his injuries.
  12. Oh really? *gears up the rant machine.......* That would require objectivity and journalistic integrity, both qualities ESPN has precious little of. They'll wait until they can't anymore----secretly hoping somehow the story is false so they don't have to carry it. ESPN knows which players bring cash into the coffers. Clemens and Tejada are 2 of them. You do realize they're planning the all-time biggest bash in history for when Bonds breaks Aaron's record, right? That's their boy---they even signed him to a contract to do a puff-piece mini series. Bonds is a damn ESPN employee, for crying out loud! You think Clemens won't be once he retires? Think again, my man. Think again. Oh silly me. How could I not see that? Stupid poster boys Clemens and Bonds, loved for eternity by ESPN. ESPN is definitely way too biased.
  13. Hm, this isn't on ESPN at all. I would have figured they would jump all over this.
  14. While my friend and I were waiting to gain entance to Beaver Stadium for the football game today, we decided to go across the street and check out the baseball stadium first hand. I must say, it is pretty darn nice. I'm gonna have to go check out a Spikes game this season.
  15. I'd like to see the Twins vs. the Padres. I wanted to see a Twins/ Marlins World Series, but since the Marlins didn't make it, I'll go for the Padres.
  16. I wouldn't mind Brown off the bench, but not of we have to give up a good pitching prospect, thoughI would like to know the definition of "good". Maybe we can convince then that Booby Brownlie or Luke Hagerty will come around. As for Sanders, he's getting up there in age, and he's an injury risk. I'd just say no.
  17. That's like asking if I want Chinese Water Torture. Drip after drip on my head is like day after day of Dusty and his astonoishingly bad in-game decisions and outrageous quotes. Both have the same result: They both make me go insane.
  18. I hope this is Ronny's year.
  19. Per Rotoworld: Mark Loretta-2B- Red Sox Sep. 29 - 8:40 am et Mark Loretta is likely playing his final games with the Red Sox this weekend. Boston plans to go with Dustin Pedroia as the everyday second baseman in 2007, so Loretta will have to seek employment elsewhere. Loretta has enjoyed a strong year, leading the team with 179 hits and playing solid defense at second, pretty well everything Boston could have hoped for. But the development of a younger, cheaper alternative in Pedroia makes keeper Loretta unnecessary. I would not mind seeing Loretta in a Cub uniform next season, for the right price. He's getting up there in age, but it still a good hitter and him coupled with Cedeno or Izturis is better than a Cedeno Izturis middle infield. Loretta is also a nice #2 hitter. There are better options at 2B, but I'm just throwing this out there.
  20. When glancing through Rotoworld, I found this bit from the San Diego Union-Tribune: I don't see this happening. Bochy apparantly doesn't seem very likely to leave and Towers doesn't want him to leave. The two have a good relationship.
  21. I could live with that. He can hit, and play multiple positions. I bet the big question in JH's mind is...can he catch the ball  ?
  22. Jaque Jones has had 20 walks combined between August and September for an OBP approximately .086 points above his avg. Is there a reason for this? Has he had a different approach at the plate. Has he finally figured out that walks are good?
  23. I'd rather see Moore get AB's at Iowa, and if we have Lofton on the bench we'd better have a better option starting in CF. Speaking of the Angels, what about Robb Quinlan? He's a good hitter who can play 1B, 3B and the OF. He'd be nice off the bench.
