  1. This was so expected that I'm not even dissapointed.
  2. Even simple animals know that when you try to get some cheese and get shocked, you stop trying to get the cheese. But goddarnit, variable rewards systems, like gambling, tend to grab people. So Dusty sees some good results from bunting , you know what he's gonna do? BUNT SOME MORE. Of course spread over the course of a season its gonna have a very negative effect, but he wont worry about that. i'm curious to see what these "good results" are. It seems like whenever we bunt, that run never scores. Basically a successful sacrifice. We've been so bad at bunting that just to move the runner over qualifies.

  4. Please just right a nasty letter to the editor instead. But thats so much less fulfilling.
  5. I've said this before, and I'll probably say it again, but: If the Cubs find a way to lose this one, I'm gonna firebomb Dusty Baker's home.
  6. Murton played yesterday. Off the bench.
  7. Win or not, I'm infuriated about this lineup. Its like Dusty Baker ran headfirst into a brick wall, picked himself up, and did it again. Why does he continue to field a batting order that he knows is ineffective? He switched in Cedeno at lead off in our first win in like 8 games....and then switched him to 3rd in the batting order?! He's bumped down Murton (arguably our most effective hitter this season) further and further down the lineup and the last 2 games has benched him. I don't even know why thats going on. He has this idea in his head that having Blanco and Perez in will help Maddux defensively, but i think the loss in run production more than outweighs whatever minimal gain in defense. I hate this man.
  8. So sad, and yet so true. I have to admit, I laughed. Well done.
  9. Don't forget Javier Vasquez, who's pitching like a monster. BTW, I am on record saying the Thome move was fantastic, my brother being the witness. I knew they got a steal with that one. I also said he was gonna hit 100 home runs, so we'll see how that pan outs.
  10. http://www.spreadshirt.com/shops/2000/1692/texts/767574_917639_thumb.gif http://fruitydrinks.com/~kee/albums/album79/pic26154.jpg
  11. This was the single most painful inning of baseball I have ever experienced in my life. Perhaps since it was juxtaposed with a light hearted discussion with a baseball great and his 500th home run. Terrible. TERRIBLE.
  12. RBI is a counting stat. Rate stats are more meaningful. You have to be acting silly, no one can honestly compare Dunn to a journeyman like Mabry.
  13. But power hitters like Mabry tend to strike out frequently. Adam Dunn strikes out a lot, too, but his walks and homeruns more than make up for the whiffs. comparing Mabry to Adam Dunn is a pretty bad comparison. Both are left-handed. Both can play the outfield and first base. What's the difference? Mabry has one homerun at this point, Dunn has upwardsof 13. C'mon.
  14. Ok, voice of reason guys: Not including today's game, Murton's OBP is .369 Far better than .326 or whatever people were saying earlier in this thread. Yes it was idiotic to bat him 8th, its disconcerting to us, and surely can only be disheartening for him. Players usually lose confidence when bumped down in the lineup, and this certainly cannot help the team. BTW, when are we gonna DFA Mabry, jesus christ he's an embarrassment of a player. He looks like a little-leaguer in the batters box. EDIT: Oops, wasn't reading clear enough, it was average vs. righties my bad. EDIT2: BTW, when has Dusty ever cared about the splits? Jock jones bats a cool sub-.100 against lefties, and he stubbornly continues to trot him out there to embarrass himself....so why would he even care what Murton's OBP against righties is? I don't even know if Dusty knows what On Base Percentage means.
  15. All these cynical, quick-witted Cubs fans make me depressed.
  16. Oh my god guys, how come you only cheer when players that are normally good do good things i mean its totally unfair when jock jones hits a home run in an 8-1 ball game, you guys totally dont cheer for him its such a double standard cheer for dusty when he wins games jeez
  17. Blanco is pinch hitting? What is this world coming to?
  18. Tell me about it. Morgan Ensberg was on fire to begin the season, and is faltering hard now. My whole fantasy team is blowing it right now. :(
  19. WHY IS HE BATTING 5TH AND MURTON BATTING 8TH I'M SO SAD
  20. WHY AREN'T WE PLATOONING HIM THIS IS INSANITY
  21. I'm once again disgusted to be a Cubs fan. How they put Murton in the 8 hole just 'effing amazes me. Y'know who should be there? The 5 million dollar man. It should be Cedeno, Murton, Barrett, Ramirez and then down the line. (of suckitude) I'm not even joking.
  22. That would be glorious. Then for some reason Farnsworth runs out, tackles Bonds, and ends his career. pr0fess0r_f4rnsw0rth: w00t
