  1. There was something cathartic in reading that. Thank you.
  2. Unacceptable, its his job to guarantee a modicum of success when we go throw our "transitional" period. THere is no reason to blow money on sub-par players. Either go through a terrible transition period that low budget teams go through (A la the Marlins) or just load us up. I don't like it. They tried to play off this season as a potential playoff team.
  3. Hendry is exactly right, 37 games is far too few to give up on the season... But with his actions, he is guaranteeing that it is already over. (Changes must be made!)
  4. I'm gonna be serious and say that if a sweep by the Nats over our Cubs has any bearing on Dusty + Co.'s firing....then I want us to lose. Unfortunately it looks like these guyz's jobs are fairly secure. Might as well win.
  5. Fixed. Everyone else is expendable to me.
  6. Hahahah do you remember last year when Buehrle said the Rangers were cheating with lights in the stands? Come on, man. He just wants attention, clearly.
  7. This I can agree with. Most. Annoying. Announcers. Ever. Good guys 3, bad guys 0. Who does that? Thats just stupid. EDIT: WHenever Hawk says something ridiculously stupid, DJ somehow backs him up with some ludicrous explanation, DJ usually gives Hawk verbal fellatio. Btw, they don't know what OBP is. THEY SERIOUSLY DONT. I can't stand the "He gone" line that one of them always says. Like bc2k said, I watch to stay informed. I have MLB.TV so if I'm bored the first thing I do is look if a game is on. If the Sox game happens to be the best game being played at that time then I'll watch it. But only then. And when they play the Cubs. Do you get TBS? If so, how often do you watch Braves games? I kinda have a soft spot in my heart for them. Gotta respect a franchise that has successfully defended their crown for 14 some years, if not for some embarrassment in the playoffs. Plus they play good baseball.
  8. That is a great way to define the luck that is the Chicago White Sox. Buerlie has two first and second with no outs and gets out of both jams. Not to mention his error helped six of the seven runs go unearned, so even his stat line looks good. I think that if a pitcher commits an error, his runs should still be earned. There was a thread about this not too long ago, it was pretty conclusively shown that those runs should be unearned, but I can't remember exactly why offhand. Y'know this is one thing I really dislike about baseball. So much subjectivity. Its the only sport (quasi-quoting Moneyball here) where your performance is actually decided by some guy in a booth. (Error or not) Its so stupid. BA is another thing that gets me nuts. RBI's are ridiculous and should almost be ignored completely. So much luck in this game is called skill. Its really quite remarkable. /end random rant
  9. LOL a little early on that, brutha. Just because we Cubs can't score runs and couldn't ever dream of coming back from a 7-0 deficit doesn't mean other teams can't.

  11. I watch a ton, I have 3 starters on my fantasy team from the Sox, so I have a lot invested in their success. Also, I'm not gonna lie, I don't hate them like many Cubs fans here. I thoroughly enjoyed the World Series success, I thought it brought a lot of energy to the town. (Probably helped boost the Bears and Bulls this past season) I'm a 300x bigger Bears fan than I'll ever be a Cubs fan. I don't want to sound like one of those "Chicago fans" but I don't root against them. Pretty neutral.
  12. And this is my point. Although, as UM pointed out, there was a time when Dusty used to get mad. I remember a certain game against the Cardinals in '03, for example, when he & LaRussa went at it pretty good. I've got to wonder what happened. Now he just rolls his eyes and chews his toothpick, no matter what happens. Maybe, like us (the fans), the losing and dissapointment have just grounded down on his motivation. Maybe he sorta...unconciously...wants to be taken out of this role? I know for sure how I would hate being continuously lambasted by the media.
  13. I like the term Boers and Bernstein use. Whena team is this horrible and actually amusing to watch, they call them "fun-bad". It's really fairly amusing. Fun-bad, recent example the Chicago Bears 90's teams and early 2000's teams. They have been so horrible its almost amusing to see them blow games or just get blown out. They haven't even been mediocre. Seems like they've turned it around now. Still have an embarrassing offense.
  14. There was a bad call earlier in the inning as well. I'd be pissed too.
  15. Thats actually the worst argument I've heard in my entire life. If you're dusty baker or the manager of any other major league team, you know what the strengths and weaknesses of your team is. If you know your team can't bunt, STOP BUNTING. You don't attempt things with the wrong personnel. Heres an analogy: I'm trying to get from one room to the next. Strategically speaking, I should use the door, but I don't have the key. So should i continue to bang my head against the door until it opens? No, you try something else.
  16. Seriously, he's been phasing Murton of the lineup for some time now, pushing him lower and lower. I dont understand it. He's one of our most productive hitters and somehow in the dog house with big ol Dusty. Whatever...........
  17. Thats a halfway decent lineup How come no one has suggested leading off Murton? He has the highest OBP on the team.
  18. LOL So now we have 18 threads floating around about how bad Dusty Baker is? I for one will have no part in it. nah, I enjoy it.
  19. I wish he could find a rod of +2 intelligence. Can I just say that this was incredible? And yes...I got it too. And part of me is with XZero - I should have no shame. But then . . . I do, whether I want to or not. You guys feel bad, I'm the one who made the joke- makes me the ultimate dork. In my own defense, I never played D&D much, only one unfortunate experience with some fringe friends. NE Ways, basically everything he's done in the last week has infuriated me, including flipping around the batting order and then flipping it back unnecessarily, and the misuse of the bunt.
  20. Yes, there could be a silver lining. ...yeah right! Dusty didn't give up the 3-run homer. We should be booing Dempster. 26 saves in a row until today.Booing him would be ridiculous. It's OK to boo Latroy but not Dempster. I'd hate to play the race card, but... Ok, even if your joking, after reading everything you've posted in the last few weeks, if I knew you in person I would slap you. You sound like Barry Bonds.
  21. Incredible. I don't even care if the Cubs have 40 wins going into September, it can't get any worse than this. Dusty MUST be fired. NOW.
  22. So true. I really can't even care at this point. Its actually amusing to see these guys flounder out there.
