Kevin Youkilis....the Greek god of walks has 4 walks today and he is 0-3. His walks have accounted for 2 runs scored......some notify the Cubs. He also has a stolen base :shock: Yeah, but the Red Sox have 10 walks and the White Sox only have 2 yet they both have 5 runs. So this clearly means walks don't matter. :roll: aw jeez this game is not gonna end.

Wow this is nuts. I was watching because Jenks, Vazquez and Youkilis are all on my fantasy team... But this game is back and forth, and holy crap theres a bunch of stuff going on.

His ERA jumped from high 3's to 5 flat in one outing. Ouch. That's why stats are misleading. He stays in for 9 runs and they blow up his numbers. How is this misleading? He gave up 9 runs...? Am I missing something?

Wow. Do we have any Monday Night games next season? I kinda wanna hear "Devin Hester... The U" We have at least 2, possibly 3.

CCR is definitely a dark horse candidate right here. They could make a damn fine run.

We already have an NFL thread, its called the Bears Off-season thread. Don't try and tell me that other NFL teams exist, you will fail miserably. Every so often, usually on Sundays, the Bears will...meet another team on the field, but will crush them so completely and mercilessly that they can hardly be considered to be part of the NFL. And don't start talking about these "Packers" I keep hearing about. They certainly can't be real.

Why this may be true, the greatness that is OK Computer (disregarding Fitter Happier, because thats just creepy and stupid) is better than any one CCR album. But dear lord, CCR put out so many fantastic hits...I mean...god they are so great. I voted CCR in the end.

Unfortunately, we don't even have "decent" hitting. We are last in the NL in runs, OBP, SLG, Homers, you name it, we're the bottom.

Agreed. If given a gun-to-the-head decision though, I'd take a big bat. I have a feeling our pitching is decent enough when the youngsters get some more experience. Matters what happens with Maddux, Wood, etc. However, our offense is so terrible...I feel like vomitting. We have no power, we have no ability to get on base...theres really nothing going for them.

The discussion is moot, if Dusty is still here, then Marshall will go 250+ innings. If he isn't, he'll probably go 200+ anyway. He wont be sitting.

It's hard to over-rate when you have the most yardage from scrimmage by a RB, most rushing yards, and most rushing TD's. Saying Smith is over-rated would be the same as saying Hank Aaron is over-rated. You can do it, but it's pretty ridiculous. Hank Aaron is overrated. He had incredible longevity and consistency, but he never had ridiculous years like Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, etc. had. I don't think he ever had more than ~45 homers in a season, not saying thats not great, but he isn't the best home run hitter of all time. Just for some comparison, Aaron had 40 more homers than Babe Ruth in 4,000 more at bats. BTW, just to add to the discussion, Payton is the best, end of discussion. C'mon, Emmitt Smith isn't better, don't be ridiculous. And by what metric do you support this? I'm not being ridiculous. Smith: #1 Rushing TD's. Smith: #1 Rushing yards. Smith: #1 Yards from scrimmage by a RB. Smith: #1 TD's by a RB. He was the most productive RB in the history of the NFL. Sure that was due to longevitiy which should be a credit to him. Look at the average career of an NFL running back. The fact that Smith showed the toughness to stick it out and be productive through all those seasons is a testament to his greatness. The same could be said about Aaron in baseball. He was remarkably consistent in hitting HR's. Whether or not he is the greatest HR hitter, I'm not sure, but he certainly isn't overrated. So if someone rated Aaron as the greatest HR hitter, what would he be?[/b] I would say someone could say that Aaron is the greatest HR hitter of all time and be fully justified in that opinion. Yes, in terms of raw totals, he has the market cornered...but he also played much much longer and thus had less "impact" seasons, and not to knock Emmitt, but for all that longevity and consistency, it sure took him a long time to crack those records. _________________
