    I’m still so curious what that Thuney play was *supposed* to look like, because as it appeared in the game, it was just an obviously illegal play, and surely Ben and company knows that, so how is it supposed to go?

    Given Calebs back to back 300 yard games I wondered how crazy he'd have to go to hit 4,000 yards while missing three games and it turns out he can do it this year if he average 298 yards in every game left. Is that likely? No. But the fact that its even a possibility is wild.

    I know this is going to come across as callous but we're talking about a guy who's mostly been a good blocking tight end the last couple years. I think they'll be fine. If there's some kind of trade out there for a meaningful D-End or Corner, I'd kick the tires on it, but other than that, we're rolling with what we got

    Yeah I’m not sure it’s an effort thing with Jaylon, maybe it is, but if it is it’s a product of demoralization with his body not being able to do what it once was. It sucks man, he’s only 28 years old but he has two major injuries that can affect your speed and sometimes…it just goes. He doesn’t look like he belongs out there. really sucks for Kmet and I hope that it isn’t season ending for him. He’s been an ultimate team player with Loveland taking the spotlight from him. mini bye couldn’t come any sooner.

    That was a really tough game against a pretty good opponent and they made some egregious mistakes but they won. not Caleb’s best game but a very good game. Receivers need to make some catches. Glad Odunze and Cairo both got to redeem themselves. notch another W. Keep it rolling.

    They're two roughly approximately evenly matched teams and the Bears are playing at home. It's not ludicrous that they're favored. That just makes sense.

    I'm sure there's going to be a big temptation to try to get through this game without forcing someone like Monangai back - given you get a bit of a mini-bye until the next game. You want your real horses healthy as much as they can be by then. I wish we were playing some scrub team like Miami though. You could muddle through with whatever in that case. Can't really do that with the Patriots coming to town.

    100% agreed and there's zero argument against it other than it is very slightly inconvenient for them to schedule around

    Yeah Jonah Jackson is huge, really hope he can play. He's been at an all-pro level alongside Darnell all year and you can really see the difference when he's out. Would love to see Monangai ready to play again. Clearly something isn't entirely right with Swift, you can see he doesn't have the same burst he had earlier in the season. And Roschon is just not good - he seemingly takes a play where he should get 3-4 and manages to get 1-2 yards. What should be a 10-12 yard gashing he turns into a modest 5-6 gain. He doesn't have great speed, his vision is poor, he just drives me nuts. Maybe I'm spoiled with Monangai and Swift, but every time Roschon is out there I'm seeing him make the least of a running play. It's insane what Caleb does for the offense. Even when you can tell he's limited with his legs, his arm and now his vision are so good now that he just gashes the defenses. And he's mobile enough to evade the rush for the most part, even if he can't hit them for long scramble plays. He is well on his way to being elite. The Johnson-Williams mindmeld is in a great place. This would be a beautiful game to win, even though I think we can anticipate it to be a bit of a slopfest due to the quick turnaround, injuries, and Soldier Field turf. Be really nice to enter a mini-bye 5-2 with a little cushion in what looks like a really depressingly competitive NFC North.

    God the Cowboys are a sorry excuse for a football game. So much for them helping us out at all.

    In context, I get it, and I don't really blame him. But it definitely almost backfired in a disastrous way. They were up 3 scores (or "4.5 scores" given how we sometimes define a TD +2 point conversion as a score and a half) and they had already suffered several losses to injury within the game. Unfortunately, this team really can't afford to let up the gas against anybody. 1st team defense had a great game but they have zero depth and most of the guys they put in are special teams players, not really defensive position players. I wouldn't even declare what Ben Johnson did as "risk taking". He's trying to keep his team healthy for a game in 3 days. It's just not really what you can do in the NFL with the team he has.

    It’s clear that Ben and Caleb have achieved that mind meld that can happen when great coaches and QBs work well together and see the game the same way. It’s something the Bears in their entire history have never achieved, it’s really special to witness. The injuries are piling up and that sucks, but if you can get this kind of defensive effort when the 1st team is on the field, this is a team that can make the Super Bowl.

    Does anyone else remember that infuriating game in like 2008 when Kyle Orton took the Bears to a lead with like 15 seconds left and somehow the Bears still lost in Atlanta? please don’t replay that

    This game ain’t over but so far it feels really good for a lot of reasons, most of all Caleb, but the part that feels most satisfying is we’ve had to overcome some AWFUL officiating

    Dennis Allen is such a wizard man. Take out all of his players, he still manages to put together a competent defensive effort. Kyler at full strength really completely changes what this defense can do
