  1. Assuming NY stands pat this off season. I'm more concerned with what Gordon could turn into here. I remember you calling him nothing more than a role player this past season, but I see a lot of Arenas in his future. I'm not ready to write Tyson off yet. Although he was very disappointing this year, he's still a defensive presence. How old was Ben Wallace when he finally figured stuff out? Rose's expiring contract would be a nice chip, but they've got a lot of nice chips already without him. It's a gamble. Could pay off, could fail, not a no-brainer -- and I suspect the Knicks are planning on making a run at next off season's free agent class, too. Wait, what? I'm a huge Gordon fan, but he hasn't the size or ability to drive like Arenas does. The comparison is fairly ridiculous. BTW, he means its rather easy to find sharpshooting guards that can hit open 3's...which is fairly true.
  2. Sadly, we know this is only short term. Dusty will continue to tweak with it until we get something crazy like Neifi leading off and Hairston in the 2 hole.
  3. Terrible OBP might have to do with it. Cedeno is like the ideal 8 hitter, if there is such a thing.
  4. I'm so glad he's on my fantasy team. My outfield has me in tears right now: Carlos Lee, Phillip Burrell and Carlos Beltran. They laughed at me before. Look whos laughing now.
  5. I can definitely live with that Lee lineup. We might score some runs with that! (I might swap Murton with Walker, but thats pretty nitpicky for no reason)

  7. That's a ridiculous philosophy! Let's tank the year to get better for the future? Haven't we tanked enough years in the past 97 years? What makes you think that giving up on this year will make us better for next year? Makes no sense. I would rather see all the players have good years and that will bold well for next year. I want to see Cedeno, Murton, RAM, Lee, Marshall, etc. excel and get better for next year. If you watch the Cubs hoping for them to lose, why watch them? LETS WIN 79 GAMES EVERY SEASON AND BE MEDIOCRE FOREVER I'm not even gonna argue with this. But I will say one thing, we need to start making some front office and roster moves right away.
  8. My only point is that people should stop overreacting after 3 pretty good, though not ace-like and 3 poor, though not Rusch-like starts. It just looks foolish in retrospect. Evidently 8 shut out innings of 2 hit ball doesn't qualify as "Ace-like" Incredible.
  9. Wait. What?
  10. Murton in the 2 hole makes BigSlick a happy boy. Murton leading off would make BigSlick a VERY happy boy. Use him like the Red Sox are using Kevin Youkilis. OBP machine- leadoff. Unfortunately Murton isn't quite as good as Youkilis.
  11. No he sucks because he plays like a pussycat and has no toughness.
  12. Did you think a game between two woefully inept franchises merits more than that? 13. And we finish the season at .500. I don't even want that, I'd rather we tank the season and have Dusty fired. I don't want him coming out smelling like roses because the team banded together and overachieved.
  14. Cubs lose 14-13 after blowing a 13-0 lead when a Black cat holding a baseball in its mouth and with headphones blazing over its ears bites off Sean Marshall's arm. Oh yeah, a goat is videotaping it.
  15. Adam Dunn was on Stephen A. Smith's show today. Smith, at his "barely above mentally handicapped" interview was fairly boring. But i was captivated by Dunn, his goatee, and his double chin. How does a man who bats sub .250 get on base 40% of the time? Because he controls his strike zone. That and he either hits a homer, walks, or strikes out.
  16. all that proves is that everyone else has been equally or more awful. When relating his current numbers to his own career stats, you have to realize his career--especially the last two years--has been pretty mediocre/bad. So the fact he's improved relative to his own suckiness doesn't mean he isn't bad. That said, I agree that Jones--relative to what we'd hoped he might contribute--hasn't been our biggest problem, and it probably isn't fair that he's received so much of the fans' anger. I think its the fact that Jones does it in such spectacularly horrible fashion. The aforementioned double plays...Diving 10 feet in front of a ball to relinquish a triple to Miguel Cabrera...swinging at pitches waaaaaaay out of the strike zone. He certainly gets creative. BTW, anyway you slice it, .310 OBP is pretty terrible.
  17. Ah, jeez, this one almost makes sense! If Murton bunts at any point during this game barring a 8th or 9th inning 1 run deficit, I will be incredibly pissed.
  18. I loathe the Cardinals as well...could it be that we play them 3x as much as the Sox in a season and that their performance has a bearing on the fate of the Cubs? Nah, couldn't be.
  19. Paul Davis is a priss.
  20. Rejoice! The only pleasure I can get out of this season is seeing Marshall, Cedeno and Murton succeed. BTW, Don't like where he places Barrett. We've all seen the splits, and the higher up the lineup Michael Barrett is, the better his performance.
  21. Yea, like he has done for the past two off-seasons. Instead of correcting problems he's either magnified them or utterly rejected that they exist. Jim, Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life, son http://lancemannion.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/bluto.jpg Hmm... I dunno, I see a little Hendry in Bluto.
  22. http://movieimage2.tripod.com/grail/grail03.jpg w00t tripod
  23. I laugh everytime I see that. Props to the peopl who set it up. It just makes me proud that so many people can coordinate a message so filled with hate.
  24. Nothing further, your Honor. I don't have contrived hatred for a group of mercenaries who play on the other side of the town either. I care about them about as much as I care about, the Bluejays, for instance. I also like the Bears more than the Cubs. Point is, only the most passionately devoted among us can muster this kind of hate toward an opponent in another league. Bears guys need not apply. Understood. I'm not gonna argue over my loyalty here, so whatever.
  25. I know this doesn't commit him to anything, but... Hasn't he expressed desire to retire after this year, record or not? He seems to be on his last leg(s) as it is.
