  1. Bets on when it will end? My money is on the mid-30's.
  2. Your avatar is almost as terrifying as the Cubs' offense.
  3. Have we gone scoreless? Lets keep a running counter. 25 Innings so far.
  4. He was hoping they would go for the run-down and a run would score Have you guys ever read Moneyball? Theres a passage with Mabry in it, and he comes off as a combination of a douche and a moron. "Have you ever faced a major league pitcher? Yea, I didn't think so"-Mabry
  5. is that sarcasm? Except for right field, I would agree. I like the youngsters as much as the next guy, but Murton and Cedeno are far from All-Stars. Neither are Walker, Jones and Pierre. In fact the only 2 All-Stars I see are Lee and Ramirez.
  6. I wasn't aware Hendry plays CF. He doesn't but he is the one that put this pathetic team together. Pathetic? There's nearly a potential all-star at every position. It's the Lee injury that's really killing us. Dusty. 'nuff said. Wait. what who what team are you watching?
  7. You called it. I rule. Don't worry my dudes. Aramis will save us next inning. I somehow doubt that. Everyone on the Cubs (except, ironically, Zambrano) is in a super-uber-mega funk. Even if they all had career years, we would only be putting up average run totals.
  8. I just want you to know that I officially benched Chris Shelton, who is now, in my book, a 3 week wonder. In other news, SCORE A FRIGGIN' RUN.
  9. Ok, I think I'm officially bad luck. Last year was the first time I became really interested in baseball, and started to follow the Cubs. I watched occasionally, but I was never all that interested. Whenever I turn on the television and watch the Chicago Cubs, they do horrible. I turned in on the 2003 playoffs, I regretted it. Last year was horrible. This year may be worse. Maybe I should give up fandom and give you guys a chance at happiness.
  10. How he takes the 2 of the best bats out of the lineup and expects them to score ANY runs amazes me.
  11. ALONG WITH BILLY WAGNER WHO BLEW A SAVE You know Wagner is hurt and should have surgery but is trying to pitch through it, right? In other news, Pierre goes deep...to the edge of the outfield. Really? TIME TO GO WAIVER-SURFING
  12. I've given him credit. And I have to admit, the Neifi/Macias 1/2 punch of last year seemed to generate more runs than this team is generating right now. Contrary to popular belief, the lead off men of the Cubs last year scored more runs than the most overrated player of the game, Scott Podsednik.
  13. BOBBY JENKS GAVE ME A 40.50 ERA YEA HE'S MY CLOSER ALONG WITH BILLY WAGNER WHO BLEW A SAVE YES YES THANKS YOU
  14. Bobby Jenks and Billy Wagner both manage to blow saves today. Jenks does it in amazing fashion, he has a 40.50 ERA in 2/3 of an inning. Never trust those White Sox players. Derrek Lee gets injured, Carlos Beltran whines and misses playing time, Zito just plain blows, i'm liking my luck.
  15. Agreed on all counts. I was impressed by our play, to be honest, if you told me the Bulls pushed the Heat to 6 games, I would have told you that you were a moron. Unimpressed with the Heat, wouldn't be surprised to see them bounced out in the second round. I'm tired of seeing Posey or Walker hit another goshdarn 3 while we double Shaq. At least I'll save myself from throwing something at the TV now... Maybe we can get Aldridge...or anybody that can score and is taller than 6'9'', thats fine with me.
  16. Honest question: How many straight innings have the cubs gone without scoring a run?
  17. I don't know if thats possible.
  18. Oh Lonestar, someday your team will heal. Have faith. It will be okay. Then you can stop making sad excuses. 6 games against the Royals - Say they instead played the White Sox and got swept 6 straight games each of the last two years. 98 and 94 wins respectively still win the division. Yeah, usually good teams beat teams they are better than more than they lose to them over the course of the season. Except the Cubs, who went 10-6 against the Cardinals but somehow managed to be below .500 combined against the Reds and Brewers. Its really quite remarkable how "un-clutch" the Cubs seem to be.
  19. Cross town match up!
  20. From a Cub loss straight into a bad (dead) Jack Ritter sitcom...does it get any better than that? Hahhaah, I noticed that... Again, and I think I'm going to say this a lot this season... At least I started Zach Duke. Thats a little consolation. (actually a lot of consolation, 9 shut out innings? Sweet.)
  21. Apparently Bronson "Barry Bonds" Arroyo can pitch pretty successfully in the NL. Their team is still too weak in the long haul, but they will be problems for a while.
  22. This shows that we're soon gonna have an even LARGER drop off in our run production, as our BA with runners in scoring position will slowly move to the median....very depressing. We're gonna need a monumental effort from Walker, Ramirez, Murton and Cedeno to weather this storm. We all know what we are gonna get out of Jones and Pierre which is....not much. And please goshdarnit, stop bunting so much Dusty, especially with some of our better hitters. You are costing us runs.
  23. The fact is, we took a ton of offensive talent last year, and we still have to wait for much of it to grow and improve. Airese Currie, Mark Bradley, Cedric Benson, Kyle Orton....we also have Berrian and possibly Gage to work on as well. A tight end would have been nice, but depth with our corners might have been a stronger need. Finally we have a legitimate return man as wel.
