  1. Congrats to the Bears coaching staff for essentially throwing the 3rd quarter away by playing Collins.
  2. We did. But then for some undetermined reason, Collins quietly moved back ahead of Hanie on the depth chart.
  3. More like 18. As far as I can tell, Robbie Gould must be unavailable for kicking field goals and extra points today.
  4. they need to be held accountable for their embarrassing actions in the way that they've chosen to ref this game. they have been absolutely disgraceful and have dishonored their families. in japan, they would be forced to commit suicide. I know you are joking, but the refs haven't been that bad. The players and the coaching have put the Bears in a 14-0 hole. I completely agree. I'm just looking at the one individual play and wondering what the point of replay is if the referee overlooks such an obvious incidence of the player being down by contact. Did Williams slide into the end zone? I don't think so, but Knox had his hand on top of his helmet on the way down.
  5. The Bears would be better off in wildcat. Forte throws a nice ball.

  7. Ok, so I'll go along with that being an interception, but he was clearly down by contact inside the 5 yard line. How could they possibly review the play and leave the ball at the 10? I realize it wouldn't have made any difference, but that still does not excuse the referee for not getting the call right.
  8. http://twitter.com/#!/CarrieMuskat/status/26088588324114433 At this rate, the Cubs should construct a statue of the guy who makes the statues.
  9. I know it is only $800,000, but this is still a glaring example of the Cubs' financial mismanagement. They choose to spend $400,000 more than they would have to for another younger, and better, player. I would sure rather have the extra $400,000 available to spend somewhere else.
  10. Yep. It is about to the point that they should just make it illegal to hit the quarterback. At least that would be a consistently enforceable rule.
  11. He is tree-mendously bad.
  12. I'm amazed that Hendry was able to pull this signing off without backing up the money truck. I wonder if this was basically the Andre Dawson blank check scenario all over again.
  13. I know this probably isn't the best use of the team's limited money, but I can't help but like the idea of bringing Wood back. Hopefully this means that he will finish his career as a Cub. As someone else mentioned, hopefully it also means that Cashner won't be forced into a bullpen role and can begin the season as a starter.
  14. As much as I hate to do it, I have to side with ESPN for once. The end of a historic streak is bigger news than an offseason transaction.
  15. According to this article, Prior is deciding between minor league offers from the Yankees and Rangers. The Phillies got Lee, so now it would be great if the Yankees end up with Prior as their booby prize! http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/12/07/mark-prior-choosing-between-offers-from-yankees-rangers/
  16. Might be? Don't forget Wood, Prior, Zambrano, Maddux. :-o
  17. Wow, that is one scary rotation... Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels
  18. This is very sad news because Santo never got to experience that Hall of Fame moment that he truly deserved and wanted so badly. As a radio listener, I have wished for a color commentator who could provide more game insight, but I surely didn't want it to happen like this. It is crazy to think that he did this interview only a few days before slipping into a coma. He certainly didn't sound like someone who knew that his death was imminent. I wonder if the cancer was something they found afterwards, or maybe it is something he had been managing and just took a sudden turn for the worse. Either way, he obviously lived for the Cubs and battled through a lot to be at the ballpark as often as possible. His presence will be missed.
  19. Hendry better hurry up and give Hill a 2 yr, $6M contract offer in order to avoid an arbitration hearing.
  20. Nice. Childress clearly is a terrible coach, so I can't say that I blame Moss. What do Vikings fans think about Childress? I thought the Bears had it bad with Lovie, but Childress really appears clueless. That interception challenge today was absolutely ridiculous.
  21. I have a strange, unjustified affinity for Gary Varsho. Hiring him may just double the value of my autographed Gary Varsho photo from 2 to 4 cents.
  22. I love the fact that this is only a 2 year deal, which doesn't prevent the Cubs from doing a complete housecleaning after 2011 if necessary. If Hendry does get fired, the new GM would not necessarily be stuck with an incumbent manager.
  23. It sounded like he doesn't expect to be back with the Cubs in any role. He said he is taking some time to digest the news and explore his options and he still wants to be a Major League manager. He has not given any thought to returning to Iowa and that is "purely hypothetical." He didn't burn any bridges, but didn't seem extremely open to a return to the Cubs organization.
