According to Bruce Levine on ESPN 1000, there are two theories on the Z explosion... 1) Z was upset with Lee's effort on the ground ball down the first base line. 2) Z was upset because he thought the ground ball down the line was foul and nobody else would back him up. Jurko and Harry are backing Z up, questioning Lee's effort, with Jurko saying that Z is just an "emotional player on an emotionless team" and should have gone back out for the 2nd inning. That just reinforces why I have never liked Jurko. -
Pierre started off the game with a double past Lee that he could've gotten a glove on, but didn't. White Sox then swarmed Z for four runs in the inning, and Z yelled at Lee in the dugout. I'm still not sure that was even the case, since it was by no means a routine play for Derrek Lee. Z may have just been acting like an idiot because he was upset with himself and maybe Lee stood up to him. It seems to be all speculation at this point.

Me too. Lee may not be my favorite player, but I love the way he carries himself and think he demands respect.

I was listening to the game this afternoon while walking my dog and Pat mentioned how Wakamatsu came out to talk to the home plate umpire after Piniella's argument with the third base umpire. Moments later, Otto went on to describe that Lou had motioned toward Koyie Hill, which could be interpreted as a 2nd visit and force him to take Marmol out of the game. I guarantee that if Santo had been the analyst, I would never have known why Wakamatsu was out there. That is just one example of the small details that we miss when Santo is in the booth. -
Do American League teams ever pull their DH, or is that just Lou?

Is it just me, or has this baffling situation occurred rather frequently? Yes, but it isn't as big a deal in an AL park. There is no excuse for him doing it in an NL game.

Another absolute waste of a game. I can't even comprehend the absurdity of this team having a nearly $150 Million payroll. The Cubs have the 3rd highest payroll in baseball and are the only team in the top 12 of payroll that doesn't have a winning record.

Aren't we already beyond that point? If Hendry was at all interested in attempting to right the ship with a managerial change, it would have already happened. At this point, it doesn't really matter who finishes out the year. The only change that matters is what happens in the offseason, which will hopefully start at the top.

If by resignation you mean his press conference where he proclaims that he doesn't know what to do and doesn't have any answers, then yes that is exactly how the week will end.

I'll buy Fukudome hitting for Nady, but no way do you pinch hit him for Colvin when you need an extra-base hit. Then again, why do I care and what does it really matter?

Unless Ricketts is going to fire Hendry, which clearly won't happen during the season, what else is he supposed to do? He has a General Manager and other baseball people under him for a reason. At this point in the season, what difference does it make if Ricketts is sitting in the bleachers or circumnavigating the globe in a yacht?

and urinal cake budget As long as they still have Bison dogs, he can slash whatever he wants!! I couldn't tell whether that was sarcastic or not. So far I have stuck with the standard Chicago dog with grilled onions... do I need to try the bison dog?

Boers & Bernstein alluded to Carlos Silva being a complete jerk and most of the other players on the team disliking him. I missed a lot of the conversation, so I didn't catch the details, but both of them seemed to agree that he has some issues in the clubhouse.
