If the Cubs are serious about making any attempt to compete this year, Aramis needs to be DL'd now. One could make the argument that he should have been put on the DL two weeks ago, but there is nothing that can be done about that at this point. A .162 average and .496 OPS are historically inept numbers, and we're not talking about a small sample size anymore (167 at bats). It is time to put him on the DL with the thumb injury, give him a week or so to heal up, then let him try to figure things out in a rehab assignment. Chad Tracy gives the Cubs the best chance to win right now (assuming that Fontenot plays 2B over Theriot). Part of the blame lies with Lou continuing to pencil Aramis into the cleanup spot and, along with a relapsed Derrek Lee, forming the weakest 3-4 combo in baseball, but Lee has at least shown some flashes. Aramis hasn't been productive all year and I'm tired of watching him fail.
