Unless Ricketts is going to fire Hendry, which clearly won't happen during the season, what else is he supposed to do? He has a General Manager and other baseball people under him for a reason. At this point in the season, what difference does it make if Ricketts is sitting in the bleachers or circumnavigating the globe in a yacht?

and urinal cake budget As long as they still have Bison dogs, he can slash whatever he wants!! I couldn't tell whether that was sarcastic or not. So far I have stuck with the standard Chicago dog with grilled onions... do I need to try the bison dog?

Boers & Bernstein alluded to Carlos Silva being a complete jerk and most of the other players on the team disliking him. I missed a lot of the conversation, so I didn't catch the details, but both of them seemed to agree that he has some issues in the clubhouse. -
He was 0-3 the first game, right? That would make him 1-6 through 2 games.

That is quite a stretch. Lou may be frustrated, but his comments after the game today in no way indicate to me that he would resign. As we've seen in the past, he often says things out of frustration and then completely changes his tune by the next morning.

It really is maddening to watch a team that is so utterly incapable of stringing wins together. The perception that the Cubs are underperforming simply isn't true. They are performing exactly how a bad team should.

I think they started during the Cubs/Sox series. I was at the game Wednesday night and really didn't care for the music at all. Call me old-fashioned or whatever, but it felt way too copycat and cheesy for Wrigley Field.

It is becomingly increasingly clear that Lou will be allowed to finish out the year with the Cubs. Does anyone know the last time a team allowed 2 consecutive managers' contracts to expire without firing or re-signing them?

I haven't seen Colvin's minor league splits, so maybe that is what you are referring to, but I surely wouldn't wouldn't say that he can't hit LHP based on a .263 average over 19 at bats. The strikeout rate is a definite concern though.

With the Cubs going nowhere fast this season, it sure seems to me that they would want to find out what they have in Colvin going into next season. That gives them plenty of justification to start him regularly over someone like Fukudome who only has one more year on his contract and will not be here long term. I'm still leaning toward the opinion that Colvin will eventually prove himself to be nothing more than a solid 4th outfielder, but the possibility of him succeeding as a starter sure appears better than it did prior to this season. I'm not willing to bet on his success based on a relatively small major league sample size, but I'm also not willing to dismiss him based on his minor league numbers. Why not let him start for an extended period of time and see what happens?

Good call. There's zero chance he's going to ever rebound after the stupid move of yanking him out of the rotation, making him a reliever and then having to work him back into the rotation. They better just release him and then set a big pile of money on fire just to be sure. This entire team is the equivelent of setting a big pile of money on fire. OK, let's just bench them all. Why do that when we can just make Geo the scapegoat?

Zambrano may not be a great starter, but you surely can't blame the whole 4th inning on him.

Are the Cubs going to get this one in? If Chicago is getting the rain that we are in the south suburbs, I can't imagine the field will be playable tonight.
