  1. Is this his last year in Chicago? I have to believe that it is. This upcoming offseason is going to make the last offseason look like the best thing ever. Nothing could make last offseason look good, but it is disturbing when the 2010 focus seemingly is to subtract players instead of making the team better.
  2. Hey, why not continue to throw hanging sliders?
  3. This Bobby Scales kid is gonna be a star, if only Lou would continue to run him out there every single game.
  4. Not that an official scorer would ever call that play an error, but has there ever been a 4 base error?
  5. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-18-cubs-brewers-chicago-sep18,0,6241197.story If you read the entire article he seems to insinuate that after the game Lou went to hide away and get a little tipsy before being ready to address the media. :-)) We knew the team was dysfunctional, but is this a case of the media going too far? What if it's true? I'm guessing it is true, but did it need to be reported? Why shouldn't it be reported when the manager of a professional sports teams drinks before a press conference? It may not be the most professional thing to do, but I really don't have much of a problem with it. Lou having a drink after the game has no impact on the team's performance on the field. If a manager was drinking before a game, that would be another story, but having a drink or two before talking to the media isn't going to hurt anything.
  6. Steering the topic away from RBI vs. OBP, what happened with Bradley today? I was listening on the radio and it sounded like he hit a routine single and then promptly took himself out of the game for what was later reported as "knee inflammation". Knee inflammation isn't exactly a sudden injury, so what really prompted Bradley to leave the game?
  7. I heard conflicting reports on Waddle & Silvy this morning that Harden is being skipped 1-2 starts, meaning he may still pitch another game or two.
  8. Wow is right. Dreyfus was on another planet. He knew nothing about baseball and most of his random comments made absolutely no sense.
  9. This is anecdotal evidence. Z is no more prone to the big inning than anyone else. The fact that Zambrano gets all pissy when he does have a big inning makes people remember it. While I don't have any statistical evidence, I think it is reasonable to say that a pitcher who maintains his composure through adversity is more likely to minimize damage in an inning than someone who loses his composure.
  10. Watch them. There is 19 games left and they are playing good ball. You are going to miss them when they are gone. My thoughts exactly. Playoffs or no playoffs, it's a long offseason.
  11. Hell, if the same stuff happens tomorrow and we win Thursday, we can get to 4 GB with a sweep! Wouldn't that be hilarious. What wouldn't be hilarious is to do all of this and play like crazy the last month of the season and end up falling 2-3 games short, leaving us all winter to lament about how it took 5 months for the 2009 Cubs to get their #$*% together. So for me, it's either stay 5 or more games out of a playoff spot, or do the unthinkable. 2 games short would be agonizing and have Kevin Gregg written all over it.
  12. What's going on in the West Tenn game? Does anyone have a link to a radio feed?
  13. I caught myself thinking that too when I checked the standings last night and saw that they still have a nearly 2% chance of making the playoffs. 98 times out of 100 it won't happen, but there are always those 2 times. "So you're telling me there's a chance!" The logical person in me knows that it isn't going to happen, but winter is long enough without baseball, so I at least want to enjoy semi-meaningful games while I can.
  14. He still could have been out of that inning with the lead if we have a real shortstop. I realize it was only one occasion, but Randy Wells seemed to be ok escaping a 3-error inning with only 2 runs. The defense may not have helped Zambrano, but he shouldn't completely fall apart whenever something bad happens. and there has been times when Z has pitched through it as well. There have been occasions when he has pitched through trouble, but he melts down more than he should. He is outstanding at times, bue he is simply not a reliable pitcher.

  16. Rally the troops, we're going to the playoffs!
  17. Holy empty seats behind home plate.
  18. Hopefully that elusive trip to Boston...
  19. Potential ligament damage maybe?
  20. Okay, so I'm guessing they'll play next week. Good. Knee sprain could potentially be a torn ACL. Those are usually initially diagnosed as knee sprains.
  21. Jay Cutler press conferences are very uncomfortable to watch.
  22. Wow, Dan Jiggetts is huge. I had to check to make sure I didn't have my aspect ratio set to Stretch.
  23. Welcome to Chicago Jay. I hope you didn't expect any help from your receivers.
  24. I hope Hester proves me wrong, but I would rather have Manning out there running straight up the field and getting the Bears good field position. Hester is going to run in circles and end up somewhere around the 23 yard line.
