  1. Only about 20 yards from long field goal range...
  2. This is Robbie Gould we're talking about. He may not be able to kick the ball more than 45 yards, but he certainly won't shank a kick.
  3. I'm already picturing the squib kick that results in a Packers touchdown or field goal to win the game.
  4. I'd have to go back and watch some of the old Payton stiff arms, but that was one amazing run today by Peterson.
  5. I'm still amazed by this. When did long snappers start making audible calls?
  6. Lovie has never been one to make effective use of challenges. He makes a lot of "desperation" challenges that have little chance of success.
  7. Earl Bennett is awesome when he lines up in the defensive secondary.
  8. At least that one wasn't a "hold action that was not a hold".
  9. The ever-so-convenient, "injuries are no excuse, but..."
  10. You forgot McBride, and if his injury means more Nathan Vasher then it is a very bad thing.
  11. I was also wondering what is going on. I just got home from the series in Pittsburgh and saw Fox get all of one at-bat, while Scales continues to play. Is Fox in Lou's doghouse for some reason?
  12. It's not like Harden's under contract for next year...or has pitched more than 150 innings since 2004. I'm of the opinion that letting Harden go would be a mistake. He's a legit ace. I disagree. In addition to having great stuff, a true ace has to be a reliable innings-eater. Harden has the stuff, but his injury history makes him far from reliable.
  13. The decision to trade Harden really has nothing to do with next year. It's about whether Minnesota can offer a package of prospects more valuable than 2 compensation picks.
  14. I personally don't get the hostility when people like Phil Rogers suggest we trade him. I hate Rogers, but at this point I think if we could get decent value for Z we'd be foolish not to pull the trigger. I think he suggested cutting him. He did, which is obviously ridiculous. I'd be all for trading him though if we could get anything whatsoever in return without having to eat much of the contract.
  15. a made up one I'm not sure if this is what the OP was referring to, but I heard Steve Stone vaguely mention this on The Score a few weeks ago. It wasn't so much a rumor as a suggestion.
  16. Good for Pie. I hope he can keep it up and be the exception to the rule for Cubs outfield prospects, as long as he stays in the American League and doesn't come back to haunt the Cubs.
  17. Should get through without a hitch. Bankruptcy Court judges are usually incredibly passive and the creditors would be buffoons to block this sale since it would substantially devalue the franchise and cut them off from a source of payments. Dan Bernstein indicated today that there is still the outside possibility of another bidder getting involved. There is a $20 Million backout clause in the contract, so theoretically if Utay or anyone else came in with a bid that is more than $20 Million above Ricketts' bid, Zell could back out and sell to the other party. Apparently Zell really dislikes Ricketts and doesn't like that Ricketts forced his hand by threatening to back out if the Tribune didn't agree to his terms. I would say that the chances of a new bid being accepted are very slim, but the fact remains that it is a possibility.
  18. Like IMB said, these comments suggest that Bradley is trying to talk his way out of town. Not even a nutjob like Bradley would continually make crazy comments like that if he wanted to spend the remainder of his contract as a Cub. He definitely wants out and is trying to force the Cubs hand. So then Hendry needs to sit down with Bradley and insist that he will not be traded, regardless of whether that is truly the case. Make it clear that he will have to face the consequences of his comments and the Cubs will not bail him out with a trade. In trying to force the Cubs hand, his comments are most likely having the opposite effect by scaring away any remaining teams that may have been willing to tolerate him.
  19. I just don't understand how Bradley could possibly think that continually making these type of comments is a good idea. He has definitely been hitting the ball lately, but he is picking a fight that he can't win. He can either stay quiet and live with some occasional booing for 2 more seasons, or keep talking and draw significantly more negative attention. I guess option #3 is to keep talking and hope it creates a rift so large that it forces the team to eat his salary and trade him. There is no excuse for racist comments and nobody should have to tolerate them, but I believe that Bradley's thin skin goes way beyond that. Someone in the Cubs organization really needs to sit down with him soon and get this under control. If people are making offensive comments in the bleachers, they need to be removed, but the team also needs to keep their own players from pouring fuel on the fire.
  20. Someday we'll go all the way, yeeeeeeeeeeeah, someday we'll go all the way.
  21. Forget football season. How many days until pitchers and catchers report?
