  1. I would give up being a fan of the greatest pastime on earth if Pujols put those numbers up in a Cubs uniform after signing that contract. Thankfully, it's one less worry as a Cubs fan!
  2. I am not the least bit worried with our offense, studs like DeJesus, Lahair and Stewart make up for the free agents we passed on. Really, who cares that he has 3 home runs and the entire Cubs team has 0.
  3. There is a good chance we don't hit 80 HR as a team this year... that will be a nice record to post!
  4. Agreed, yet entertaining nonetheless...
  5. Non roster invitee to ST, or did he get a MLB contract?
  6. I point you to the Darvish example and what we offered him... They appear to not be willing to overpay for FA or non-MLB talent (Japan, DR etc...).
  7. The way I understand Theo's strategy is that he won't sign a high priced player for past performance at this stage of this build. I do believe when he is ready to strike, he will have no problem paying for a named FA (such as Fielder etc). when the time is right. The Cespedes contract is interesting in the fact that he appears to have stupid talent, just hasn't had a change to display on MLB level (yet).
  8. All signs point to you're wrong. I suppose it's possible that McLeod's comments are all a smokescreen. As are all the visits they've made and talks they've had with the guy. A smokescreen to what? That's for you to decide. It's not about me being wrong, its a belief that Theo/Jed will not overspend on a FA or prospect, they have stated in numerous times and proved it with Prince/Fielder/Darvish and Wilson, all at one time were available. I don't deny they will spend money, perhaps I should have clarified that they won't overspend
  9. I honestly don't see Theo/Jed spending $$ on him. My gut feeling this dude is going to suck anyways.. so hopefully we stay away.
  10. Looks like the league has spoken, and Prince Fielder is not a 7+ year investment. Didn't Theo and/or Jed say that they'd be interested in him on our terms even after the Rizzo trade? Maybe it's time for them to put their money where there mouth is, assuming they havn't already started. If it does come down to a 5 year deal and the money is right I don't know how Theo/Jed aren't interested. It would be disappointing to see talent like that on another team when we still have a glaring hole at 1B even with our AAA prospects, provided the price is right.
  11. Are you the dude that got pissed last night when Ricketts announced that the cell coverage is enhanced at Wrigley this year and people can actually use smartphones they way they are intended to when watching the game? He touched on this topic last night during the panel discussions with Theo/Jed and fuzz nuts, aka Kaplan...
  12. Welcome to the forum. I respectfully ask, Are you a fan of the stadium or the team?
  13. wtf? I watched more of last year's crappy team than I care to admit, and I don't remember this being a problem. I was at this session and there certainly wasn't an uproar when cubs brass or coaches talk about running out all plays and playing hard. This is just a touch bit overblown on the media's part or whoever came up with the "biggest ovation" part.
  14. That is a nice addition to a strong Reds team, hard to argue they might not be the favorites on paper going into the season. However, we all know that Dusty is the great equalizer...
