  1. I think he'd play anywhere his manager asked him to play. If you have a player like Reed to cover center (and Mike Cameron before him) it's hard not to put Ichiro's arm in RF.
  2. Taking their best years into consideration, I'd give the edge to Gwynn. Ichiro's best years were spent across the Pacific, unfortunately for MLB fans.
  3. He'd need to demand a trade too because I haven't heard any rumors at all about the Cubs shopping Wood. Have you?

Does anyone know if that pick is conditional? Like, if the Knicks get a top 2 pick or something, they keep it? It's the Bulls picks unless it falls below #25 overall. If it's 26 or below, I believe the pick goes to the Jazz and the Bulls get the Knicks first-round pick in 2007.
  5. Off to Rivalries for the inevitable 20-page fight.
  6. In terms of him playing RF? Yeah, I could live with it, too.
  7. I don't think he's better than a healthy Drew. That's an understatement. Not only has Matsui played in every game during his time in NY, he didn't miss a single game between 1994 and 2002 in Japan. I agree that health is a huge advantage for Matsui over Drew.
  8. Six of one, half dozen of another. Murton's arm isn't great either. Not sure who's arm is better between the two. Neither's a great fit in RF, IMO. Home runs seem about right. I think the avg and obp are a bit low.
  9. I doubt anyone would be happier than me if the Cubs were to sign Hideki, but I don't think he's the best fit for right. He has a pretty weak arm. He's played CF both in Japan and for the Yankees, although he's not the best fit there either.
  10. Born into it as well. One of many fourth generation Cubs fans in my family.
  11. The same reason why Duhon is starting over Gordon. Skiles. I actually don't mind Gordon off the bench. But Deng on the bench is ridiculous. I think Gordon's even more of a scoring threat than Deng and the Bulls need to get him as many minutes as possible. But I agree that Deng should start over Noch.
  12. Seconded. There's absolutely no player in baseball I would trade Z for apart from maybe Pujols and we all know the Cards wouldn't make that deal. Cabrera is just about the only player I'd accept back for Z in a trade. You wouldn't take Castillo too? :D I take it no one would accept 2 very good players for Z then. What if the Mets ( sign Furcal) then trade Reyes and Cameron to the Cubs for Z and Hendry thinks that would be the answer for the leadoff situation. I'm not suggesting this but I could see it happening. It closes 2 holes while opening a huge hole. I think it's almost impossible to get equal value back for Z, and that's the only way I'd trade him. So I'd say no to two or three good to very good players.

  14. Miguel Cabrera. I don't know if Florida would trade him, but I'd trade Prior or Z for him straight up. When attitude (I admit its all based on speculation) and defense is considered I would almost rather have Jason Bay. I still wouldnt trade Z for him though. Cabrera is 5 years younger than Bay. Bay a solid player, for sure, but Miguel's on a HOF track. And I agree about not trading Z for Bay.
  15. Why is Nocioni starting over Deng? Deng is the biggest key to this team IMO. He's the guy that has the upside to make up for some of the points Curry took with him. The same reason why Duhon is starting over Gordon. Skiles.
  16. If Z and Burnett were the same age, I'd consider it. But Z's five years younger then AJ, and eight years younger than Abreu. He's also been the Cubs best starter over the past three seasons. Can't argue with your logic. Then, disgruntled or not, I would focus on figuring out a way to bring Gary Sheffield into town. I could live with that, depending on the player/prospect cost.

  18. You can put text between the URL tags, too -- which I'd recommend doing that for long links like that one.

  20. For what?
  21. You think? I thought England beating Australia in the Ashes this summer has the UK cricket crazy again.
  22. I imagine it is, but mods can't ignore anybody. Just another price we pay.
  23. What's with all the sniping going on in this thread? Everybody take a deep breath.
  24. He's been offered $12 million for 3 years to stay in Japan but I think you could be right.
