Enough for what? For him to reach his full potential? I can't agree with that. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of player Robinson was during his senior year in high school. Oden's size and athleticism reminds me of Robinson. It's not fair to compare a teenager to a HOF player, of course. But I do think Oden has that kind of ceiling.

I watched some of one of his high school games on ESPNU, and his offense wasn't extremely impressive. He ran the floor very well, and was a nice defensive presence inside, but he didn't do much in the set offense(aside from catch passes for dunks after his man helped penetration) and he had probably half a foot on everyone else in the game. He hasn't had to develop a post game yet. I think a year of Big Ten ball should prepare him nicely for the NBA.

How so? He's 7, 245 at 18, and an outstanding athlete for his size. I think he's got David Robinson written all over him, and he'd be the consensus number 1 pick in this year's draft if not for the new minimum-age policy.
  4. 1908

Good one. :D I think the league would love to see Oden end up in Chicago, though.
  5. They've had a number of tough losses during this streak. I expected them to regress this year but I think they're better than their current record. I just hope Paxson remains patient. They have an excellent young core of talent, possibly two lottery picks in this year's draft, and plenty of cap space this coming off season. One step back this year, two or more steps forward next.

Yep, and the option to swap first round picks with NY in the 2007 draft too. Holy smokes, that's wonderful. Can you imagine the backlash in NY if the Knicks land the top pick in 2007 and it's the Bulls that end up with Greg Oden? Dream a little dream.
  7. 1908

I think the Bulls have their answer at SF in Deng. I hope the Bulls can land one of Aldridge, Brewer or Horford (assuming he leaves the Gators) with the Knicks pick, and then take the best PF/SG available with their own.

Adam Morrison's going to have enough problems guarding small forwards in the NBA, much less two guards. Ronnie Brewer, please. :D
  10. That used to be true but the Cubs are only offering the Full Season package to new season ticket holders.
  11. Bay is an amazing talent, but he's almost four and a half years older than Miguel Cabrera. I do agree with your point, though.
  12. Putting the semifinals and finals in the Skydome would be less than ideal, but better that than no Cuba in the tournament.
  13. Really? Why don't I have a clue? I've read this board for a couple years now, what gives you reason to believe I have any less of a "clue" than anyone else? These type of comments are exactly my point. Fine, I know nothing. I have no clue. Dropped. When I first read your post, I thought you were referring to posters we have banned when you said dismissed -- and you really don't have any clue on how many people we've dismissed in that sense. After reading it again, I realized that you probably weren't saying that, and deleted my post before you posted your reply. So my comment wasn't related to your point. Sorry to disappoint.
  14. This board is the sum of the people who post on it. When you describe the overwhelming attitude as condescending, pretentious or hypocritical, you're insulting the majority of people here. I hope you can see that. You're welcome to talk baseball here as much as you'd like, but I'm asking you again to let the axe-grinding drop moving forward.
  15. You're free to express your opinion but that post was way out of line and you've been here long enough to know better. See you in two weeks.
  16. Missing their best player in Deng. When's he supposed to be back, anyway?
  17. Here being nsbb.com? Perhaps I've just clicked on the wrong threads, but you seem to often include a shot at the board in general when you make your points, and I see little reason for that. 1908... Yes, here being NSBB. Don't misunderstand... I like this forum, and I believe that this site has the most insightful baseball fans that I have ever encountered on the internet. I appreciate the stats and useful information that one can find here. And, despite compaints to the contrary, I have found that there is a fair amount of dissenting opinion. However, it has been my observation that posters here tend to WAY overvalue Cubs players and prospects. Perhaps you consider that hyperbole on my part. That's okay. Maybe I consider it hyperbole on your part that you say I "often" include shots at this forum. Have I done that before? Yep. Often? Nope. Sorry if I offended anyone. That wasn't really my intention. The search function is disabled at the moment so I cannot count the instances easily. I will say that you make comments like that one more frequently than the majority of our membership, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you could make your points without them moving forward.

  19. I suspect Ishii's headed back to Japan. His old team wants him back and I suspect they'd be willing to pay him significantly more than any MLB club.
  20. Thanks for taking the time. Good stuff. So your LF and RF are likely to field the same number of balls, and neither one is likely to have to throw home more frequently than the other one? That runs counter to your frequency theory, Mizzou. Taking the throws to third into account, it seems pretty clear to me that you put your best arm in RF.
  21. So that bid money goes to the NPB team and not to the player?Correct.
  22. Something I wrote a couple years ago: He wasn't ever on the market in my opinion.
  23. In order for that study to be of use, seems to me you'd have to figure out a way to account for the times a strong arm kept an outfielder from having to make a throw. On a shallow sac fly, I suspect a runner on third is a lot more likely to run on Manny than Ichiro.
  24. I agree from a range standpoint but Pie's the only one with the arm for right. I was thinking about this the other day. Wouldn't it make more sense to have your strongest arm in left field? There are a lot more right handed hitters in baseball, and batters pull the ball more than they go the other way, so the left fielder would get more chances... or so it would seem. I know conventional wisdom has the strongest arm in right, but doesn't it make sense to have your strongest arm in left? Am I missing something here? It's the throw from right to third that makes all the difference. How often does a left fielder need to throw to first base?
