  1. How did they start last year again? I'm not willing to bet on another 47-26 finish, especially not with Chandler regressing terribly. But let's hope that I'm wrong and starting Sweets will infuse some energy into the team. I'm not willing to bet on any type of finish in November. Just think it's incredibly premature to declare the season all but over.

  3. Not true. I believe the intent of your first post was to mock the moderators on this forum, which suggests to me that this discussion has a similar intent. I suggest you bring in up with Tim if your concern is an honest one, either via PM or email.
  4. In all seriousness, are you saying then that outright, undisguised and unashamed public mockery of the appearance of others is compatible with this being "a family site, welcoming to kids..."? In all seriousness, are you saying your post in this thread was sincere?
  5. Actually that was directed more at the people who complained about the polls to the moderators, but I'll leave them alone too. Good idea.
  6. Any public mocking of moderators on this board is unacceptable. Please stop. Immediately. Thank you.
  7. If you didn't hear it on WFAN yourself, do not include that information in the thread title.
  8. If you believe that both players have a case, I don't understand why you keep arguing against Lee. There's nothing wrong with an honest argument, but just arguing's for arguing sake gets old in a hurry. I'm not arguing against Lee so much as I'm arguing FOR Pujols. I said that it was close enough to make a case either way. I don't think that Pujols was far and away the more deserving player, and I'm not convinced yet that Lee should have won, but there have been some good points made for him. Obviously I'm a Cardinals fan, so if I can make a case for Pujols, then I don't consider it to be "arguing just for arguing sake". So you're going to keep arguing for Pujols on a Cubs board until every member agrees with you? I think you've made your case.

  10. Do you not remember your own posts from about 2 hours ago?? This one? Why are you still arguing this point, K-Town? Were you just being magnanimous at the start of this thread? Or do you just like arguing with Cubs fans?
  11. Don't you mean the majority of people who had an MVP vote?
  12. Is that classified as a steroid precursor? I don't believe so but I'm no biochemist.
  13. Paper tiger until they develop a test for HGH.
  14. Hideki spent 10 years in Tokyo playing for the most popular team in Japan, and he views the Yankees as the MLB equivalent. He's not going anywhere.
  15. Did you know that Wrigley has also hosted 6 World Series? Very minor correction, actually Wrigley has hosted five. The Cubs played their home games in the 1918 World Series at Comiskey Park, due to the greater capacity at the time. Yeah, I remember reading about that during the Red Sox series last summer now that you mention it. Thanks for the correction.
  16. I didn't hear it myself but this "WinWorldSeriesPlease" guy said that Levine sounded confident in saying it. Someone on this board might have heard it. I believe the guy who posted. In the future, please confirm the source yourself before posting something like this. It's fine to start a thread saying X poster on Y site reported Z, but don't include a media source's name unless you heard it yourself.
  17. Nevermind, found it in the Seattle Times. Sounds like there's still a lot of interest from both sides.
  18. Both the agent and the mariners denied that report and said they aren't close to anything. Cool, where did you hear that?
  19. I don't think Bradley's production was a product of a small sample size. No, I mean when you're evaluating a player's contributions to his team, do you believe that games played are an important factor? Sure time counts, but that's not exactly what I was saying originally. For the time that they played, Bradley was better offensively. That's not what you said, you said Bradley outproduced Ichiro this year, and it's not even close when you factor in games played.

  21. Based on what? OPS? C'mon. VORP Ichiro 45 Bradley 24 Win Shares Ichiro 24 Bradley 11 That's because Bradley didn't have the PT Ichiro did. VORPr Bradley .319 Ichiro .254 EqA Bradley .290 Ichiro .279 You don't equate games played with production?
