  1. NC Women's soccer. I thought we were talking about sports here. ;) (That was meant to be a soccer joke, btw, not a women's sports joke.) Grrrrr. [slidetackles BK] Quick, BK, pretend you're hurt so he gets a yellow card.
  2. Unless there's an "injury". Fixed it for you.
  3. We're talking about gestalt-ball now?
  4. You were saying that the players from my first years in peoria weren't good cause it was the Cardinals org. and i was pointing out that there ar emore players from 2002-2004 Peoria in St. Louis right now (winning a division) than there are from 2002-2004 Lansing in Chicago right now... This makes me a sad panda... a lot of the talent on the Lansing club was supposedly going to make the Cubs a consistent contender in the NL Central for many years. Choi turned into Lee. Hill turned into Aramis. Zambrano and Prior have been All-Stars before the age of 25. Pie won't be 21 until February. Buck up, Panda.

Which players from 2002-2004 Peoria have seen MLB action for the Cards this year? Ronny Cedeno, Adam Greenberg, Rich Hill, Sergio Mitre and Ryan Theriot meet that criteria for the Cubs this year. Yadier Molina, Brad Thompson, Chris Duncan, Tyler Johnson, Carmen Cali...and if you add John Gall from 2001 who I also saw play here...and then Danny Haren is of course in Oakland from the 2002 team So that's five to five with Duncan, Johnson and Cali having very little impact for the Cards, and Greenberg and Theriot producing practically nothing for the Cubs.

  7. You've lost me.
  8. Well, Peoria was part of the Cardinals system for the three years before this one. :D I haven't been blaming Patterson for anything. I think being ranked in the top 20 of a 14-team league is a solid accomplishment. And I don't think Baseball America penalizes prospects for playing college ball. Travis Buck just missed their top 5. That said, I am not going to dismiss age relative to league as an evaluation tool. We'll just have to disagree on that point.
  9. Do you disagree with Baseball America's list, Raw? Where would you rank Patterson?
  10. If he were Patterson's age, I'd agree with you. But it's hard to hold repeating the level against an 18-year-old in the MWL. He could repeat two more times and still be younger than Patterson was this year. I wouldn't argue if they had ranked him a few spots highers. I don't think he belongs in the top 10, though. Hopefully, he'll tear up AA next year and make this discussion look silly in hindsight.
  11. I'd love to see EPatt duplicate his numbers in an age appropriate league. Until he does so, I can't see how you can rank him over players like Carlos Gonzales, a 19-year-old who hit .307/.371/.489.
  12. No, it's profanity. Please refrain from using it.
  13. If you're suggesting that sports without rivalries wouldn't be much fun, I agree. If you're suggesting there's something wrong with Cubs fans rooting against their rival teams, you've lost me.
  14. That's odd. It's been my impression that the opposite holds true. Those who grew up near or in Chicago understand the rivalry better than Cubs fans that didn't. I've lived in or very near Chicago my whole life and I certainly understand it.
  15. Not so much.
  16. You really think Len would pick Clemens only because Carpenter is in a Cardinal uniform? I don't know; there's a whole lot of Cubs history when it comes to the Kasper clan.
  17. The Cubs' 10 and 6 record against the Cards this year could be coloring Prior's judgement.
  18. Here's pitching in the AFL this year. If he says healthy -- a huge if -- he has the stuff to be a difference maker.
  19. I don't have a DVD burner, and I don't know of any other way to get digital content off my DVR. Replay it while sticking your laptop's mic up to the TV speaker. No laptop, no mic. Good idea, though. (No cassette recorder, either.)

  21. Len said the follow during tonight's broadcast right after Burnitz grounded out to short in the top of the 6th. (DVR's are a wonderful thing.) "I wanted to thank the folks from NorthSideBaseball.com for having me recently do a Q & A on their web site. They do a nice job covering the Cubs. A lot of questions about next year, what the Cubs may do in the offseason." Edited to correct typo.
  22. Agreed. Dunn is also 2+ years younger than Wilkerson.
  23. Seems unlikely at this point. You'd think so, although the national team played pretty well against the Orioles back in 1999. They'd have the advantage of being a true team versus a team of All-Stars, too. I hope they play so we get to find out. At the ASG last year I actually got a chance to ask Ben Sheets about pitching against Cuba in the 2000 Olympics. He said it was like facing a real good AA team. If they show up, they won't medal. That's a lot of info for Ben to gather based on one game versus Cuba. It's still an interesting story, though. Like I said, I hope they play so we can test your pronouncement.
  24. They don't want to compete with MNF.
