Don't know if its been reported here yet, i heard an interview on the score about 20 minutes ago from the guy who wrote the LA Times piece. He seemed pretty sure of the deal and was talking as if it was complete...

Wowzers.

Well ok, I need sleep. I'll check this madness out tomorrow after church.

The Dodgers, making their first major move under new general manager Ned Colletti, have signed free-agent shortstop Rafael Furcal to a three-year contract worth nearly $40 million, FOXSports.com has confirmed.

The deal, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, will enable the Dodgers to move shortstop Cesar Izturis to second base when he returns from elbow-ligament transplant surgery in July. Second baseman Jeff Kent likely will move to first.

That does seem to indicate some independant verification, but the front page article link missing from latimes.com sure is weird.

Actually, if you go to the Latimes.com home page and look under the ''More news'' section, there's a link to the article saying Furcal is a Dodger.

Really, I don't see it there.

But does he want a hat that fits his head? I think the majority of his power is derived from the baby-esque features. Pitchers don't want to be mean to a child, so they don't throw at his face when he tries to bunt for hits?

He really needs a mustache. I would probably be on the bandwagon for trading for him if he had a huge stache. I can relate to mustaches more than I can to being a baby. I haven't worn diapers in years, but I wear my mustache everyday.

SABR that! MCBA will rule the next decade in baseball! (Mustache-Centric Baseball Analysis).

  I'm wiping beer off my monitor...

Free agent Rafael Furcal has agreed in principle to a three-year deal with the Dodgers that would make him one of the highest-paid shortstops ever, a source close to the negotiations said Saturday. The deal would guarantee Furcal, 28, nearly $40 million.

He is expected to take a physical in the next day or so. Furcal's agent, Paul Kinzer, said he couldn't confirm until today that the deal was completed.

How sweet would it be if he had a Rolly Fingers handle bar Mustache?

So my wife saw me laughing at this thread, and wanted to know what Pierre looked like. I did a google image search, and I found this:

Pop the champagne fellas. God forbid Hendry overpay anyone. Todd Walker deals are the benchmark. ;)

Yep. OBP! I would like more of that please.

Also, if we cut Neifi as soon as the ink dries on the Furcal contract. Some convincing job he gave. I never bought that anyway "Yeah Raffy, come here and take my starting job, I don't want to play anyway"

NEIFI'D!!!

That's one of the best things I've ever seen. It's not 'quite' cartoony enough, but it'll do.

TRADE FOR PIERRE (on the condition that he grows that magnificent stache back).
