As an addendum to that, the number 1 tight end in the country, Konrad Reuland from Mission Viejo, CA is supposedly leaning towards ND. "Leaning far enough to almost fall over", says Tom Lemming.

It's entirely possible that Weis will net the number one recruiting class in America in his first full offseason. Truly amazing.

I'll take Mustain if he's that good...but let's not forget about a kid named Jimmy Clausen that still has another year of HS to go that's supposed to be about the greatest QB ever (and is supposedly leaning toward ND, although his parents have tried as hard as they can to keep anyone from knowing what he is thinking). Of course, we got another guy like that and it didn't work out so well...

Yea, but the previous guy had Holtz using him in the option more than anything. Clausen would be awesome, I think it will be between USC and ND, and I really hope ND wins. here is an article about Mustain, but it says he will probably stay with Arkansas or go to Tennessee. I can't find it right now, but Mustain did meet with Weis over the last weekend, so who knows. Could you imagine being in HS and having this much attention payed to your every move?

Absolutely not. I imagine it just being hilarious to watch all these articles being written about me.

OT: I wrote an opinion column for the BSU Daily News about how Ty's firing was not racist and it somehow got posted on NDnation.com. (I'd never heard of the site before then.) I'd gotten about 15 e-mails from people supporting it before I realized it had gotten posted on there. I ended up getting like 30 e-mails supporting the column that day. It was surreal.

Wow, that awesome. There is a good chance I read it if it was on NDnation. Do you post there?

Adam, I heard nothing about dropping a QB. The South Bend Tribune reported two more commitments for ND today, and on their list of Irish recruits, both of the QBs were still on there.

I just hope that if they dropped one, it was Frazer, because Jones looks like a big-time playmaker.

I am seriously annoyed that Mike Hass from Oregon State (never heard the name in my life) beat Samardzija for the Biletnikoff Award. Hass had SIX touchdowns, Jeff has FIFTEEN. Also, Jeff played on a BCS bowl team while Hass played on a 5-6 team. In my eyes, that's well more than enough to make up for a 300 yard differential that's more due to the late-season emergence of Maurice Stovall than anything else. Jeff made a bunch of highlight-reel catches and I never saw Hass on any highlight show. I can't understand this at all.

You've never heard of Mike Hass? Wow.

No, I don't post there. Between this board, Baseball Fever, the Bulls board I am on and the Panthers board I'm on, I waste too much time on message boards as it is. :P

Lemming's opinion is worth about as much as the opinion of Phil Rogers. I wanted to further blast him, but that's really all that needs to be said.

Despite not making the first team All-Big Ten team, Zach Strief has been named to the ABC Sports First Team All-American Team. Big (and I mean big) congrats to him.

First 'Cat since Damien Anderson to make the team and first lineman since 1982. Strief is going to have a nice career in the NFL.

Congrats to Joe Paterno and Paul Posluszny! Joe won Coach of the Year honors, which makes this a record fourth time that he has won this award. Poz won the Bednarik Award, presented to the top defensive player in the nation. Poz and DE Tamba Hali were also chosen for the Walter Camp All-America team. Poz is the 12th linebacker from PSU to be named an All-American, and is a finalist for the Butkus Award as well.

Now, let's go out and win the Orange Bowl to put the appropriate finish to this great year!

Hopefully another boost to recruiting: http://www.bus.ucf.edu/sport/public/downloads/2005_Football_APR_Grad_Rate.pdf

According to that study, not only does Northwestern have the highest graduation rate for football players out of all bowl-bound teams at 83%, but they have by far the highest graduation rate for African American football players at 90%. To put that in perspective, two of the top-ranked private unversities for football, USC and Notre Dame, have rates of 58/52% and 77/76%.

We also have the most concieted fans of any bowl-bound team, chanting "safety school" at 98.7% of our losses and 19.2% of our wins.

GO 'CATS!

Interesting that FSU has the highest APR score of ALL the BCS Bowl teams.

Graduation rates are deceiving, especially for a school like Florida State where Juniors are lost every year to the NFL, counting against the graduation rate. But I'm sure that doesn't matter, since FSU having the most players in the NFL is worthless as an argument.

I believe that Miami has more NFL players than Florida State... not positive, but I think I remember that being a trivia question that I answered correctly.

C'mon Pom Pom Pete. You know you want to go back to the pros!

I really hope he stays. I do think, however, that either way USC will lose at least 2 games next year, maybe more. I have no doubt their run will be over no later than Thanksgiving weekend of next year. :D

I hope and pray that USC somehow stays unbeaten through that weekend of 2006. I want to break that streak so bad, which made the USC loss even more painful.

The Downtown Athletic Club has just announced that Brady Quinn has been awarded the 2006 Heisman Trophy.

I was thinking the same thing. Nothing on line yet, but I hope it is true.
