I dont know if this is a rant or not but I would rather have Bobby Hill than Neifi Perez. Especially for the price tag. I think Hill would be a good becnh guy if someone is willing to give him the chance to do so. He does have a career 350something obp. Probably below average defense everywhere but still would have more value than Macias.

I think Hill is lazy and I hope the Cubs have nothing to do with him.

Hill would be a better back-up 3B than Jose Macias.

A rock with legs and arms would be a better back-up 3B than Macias.

Better back-up 3B than Jose Macias:

  • Bobby Hill
    Rich Hill
    Rich Hall
    Darryl Hall
    John Oates
    John Denver
    Denver Pyle
    Gomer Pyle

You wouldn't take a guy with this in his favor on our bench?

Career .343 OBP

Who plays a position we could actually use a pinch hit specialist from? Really, who are we going to get who would do better than that as a pinch hitter? Who'd you rather have as the first bat off the bench when they need to get on base, Macias or Hill?

If Hendry decides to non tender Macias, I would hope that Neifi become the 25th man. I wouldn't mind Hill on the team as a PH/utility guy, but depending on other moves we have Cedeno, Perez, Hairston, Walker and technically Macias. How many more middle IF do we need?

I am not advocating the Cubs acquiring Hill. I am just saying for all the slack that Hill takes for not panning out as a prospect he would be a good bench player. Certainly better than a couple that the Cubs seem to want to keep

Honestly, I'd much rather have Hill starting everyday than Perez if/when we got rid of Walker.

Of course, it'll never happen.

I think the move tells you Hill has other problems that the Pirates didn't want to deal with besides lack of range.

Don't overestimate the intelligence of the Pirates organization. You can't assume there's a logical reason behind anything the Pirates do.

I can reasonably assume they know more about a player than people like me, who only read the papers and occasionally get to see a player. I'll bet the Cubs don't jump on him either.

If a utility infielder's release causes 2 pages of posts, how many pages will we have when the Dodgers don't tender Choi a contract? He's gone and if they can't trade him, he'll be one of many non-tendered in December, when a whole new list of free agents are created.

Has anyone picked up Bellhorn yet? I think he was released, I may be wrong though.

I know enough not to hold back young talent for obvious garbage like Randall Simon, Chris Stynes, or Darryl Ward. The Pirates are just a dumb team, and I don't assume they know more than anybody.

Looks like LA is giving up on Choi.

Being an old cubs fan, would you say that the trades for Lee & ARam are 2 of the top 10 in Cub history, if not top 5?? The Sandberg and Sosa trades are in the top 10 obviously.

wow, if Choi gets's let go, we better be all over him. Now THAT is a bat to have on your bench.

He was doing great in Florida (.388 OBP) before the Dodgers got him, and he just hasn't done much since.
