Sometimes I get the distinct impression that Jim Hendry does things just to piss me off. 3 years!? To Scott Eyre?

So it's not just me? That's comforting...I guess.

I'll say one thing for Hendry, when he wants his guy he goes out and gets him.

I just wish his guy was Giles.

more overpaying for mediocre talent. Glad Hendry can overpay for people like Rusch, Neifi, Macias (you know it's going to happen), and now Eyre. I guess this means Hill has no place on the big league roster or is on his way out of town.

The Score is reporting that Scott Eyre could sign a 3 year deal with the Cubs possibly by the end of the day.

I can't wait to see how much we're going to over pay another middle relief guy...

This is just another reliever who will come to Wrigley Field and then suddenly forget how to pitch. Not to mention 3 freakin years. God bless America Hendry. It seems like he doesn't have a clue sometimes.

Here's what is scary about Eyre:

ERAs in 2000, 2002, 2004: 6.63, 4.46, 4.10

ERAs in 2001, 2003, 2005: 3.45, 3.32, 2.63

Last I looked, 2006 is considered an even numbered year.

Who is he and what position does he play?

Well i guess in a positive way at least his trend is to get better when you take 3 year avgs in odd and even numbers.

Jesus Christ, can we at least wait and see if he's signed and if so for what dollar amount before we blast Hendry for "overpaying?"

But to be fair....he's gotten a little (chicken) better each of the even yrs. I don't know if I would give him 3 yrs, or ore then $2.5 mill per, but anything to keep Bartosh from being an option, I consider a solid move.

If it's a 3-year contract as rumored it's overpaying. I'm hoping the Score is wrong, but ESPN 1000 has said pretty much the same thing today.

We don't know how much the contract is for yet, so that's not really a fair statement (yet). 3 yrs at less than 1 mil wouldn't be a bad deal for this guy (although I doubt it will be for that).

I'm not too keen on any 3 year deals for relievers. I'm surprised that JH isn't nervous about signing Scott "LaTroy Remlinger" Eyre.

Not to call anyone out, but that's not what the Score reported. Murphy was talking hypothetically with Steve Stone about the 40 man roster and said "so if today, the Cubs sign Scott Eyre to a 3 year deal, he'd be put right on the 40-man roster?" This was in relation to the Leiscter trade.

Doesnt Will Ohman give you the exact same thing as Eyre? Also does this mean Rusch is definatly starting, because I really cant see us going into the start of the season with 3 lefties out of the pen. I would have thought Hendry would have learned his lesson giving 3 yr deals to relievers but apparently not.
