Syracuse vs UConn.....Mac is hurt and he struggles big time against them when he is healthy, this is going to be a very difficult game.

What a surprise....Mac goes 3-9 and gets hurt. I can't wait until he graduates.

Pardon the injection of non-D1 hoops, but the best rivalry in college basketball just added another chapter:

http://www.d3hoops.com/releases.php?release=46804

Stakes:

- Calvin gained sole possession of first place in the conference, and thus the inside track to hosting the conference tournament (where, unlike D1, you pretty much have to win to make the NCAA tournament)

- Calvin now leads the overall series between the overall teams 81-78, with Hope having a 6-point overall advantage in point differential

- Calvin avenges an earlier shellacking at Hope, thus yet again splitting the season series.

Now continue on with your D1 discussions, just wanted to give a shout out to the alma mater and the best rivalry in college hoops.

Just realized that ND's win over Rutgers was by 27, and the aggregate total of their Big East defeats were by 26. Further, their other Big East win was by 15 so they have outscored conference opponents by 16 despite being 2-8.

UCLA beat WSU 50-30. Wazzou scored 12 in the first half. It's UCLA's first 20-win season since 2001-2002. :)

Cal beat Stanford at Berkeley by 3 to stay 1 game behind UCLA in 2nd place. Stanford falls 2 back of UCLA.

Washington beat a Gabe Pruit-less USC in Seattle to snap a 3-game losing streak. Big game Saturday, UCLA at Washington.

That's less points than your football team gives up.

Ouch!! That's because the basketball team actually plays defense. :P UCLA actually started off ahead 14-0, so the announcers had to make about 20 football score jokes.

i'm sure TT, Mizzou, Cubbie75, and the rest of the Mizzou fans are rejoicing today:

Quin Snyder's up-and-down tenure at Missouri is over. ESPN has learned that Snyder has resigned as men's basketball coach after six-plus seasons. Assistant coach Melvin Watkins will take over the 10-11 squad.

going to be interesting to see where Snyder coaches next. Community College maybe?

Maybe BSU will give him a look when they fire Tim Buckley after this season...

No! Quinn was/is the coolest coach in America. Stupid Missouri, now the bragin rights game will actually have to be played again.

Man, I hate Mizzou almost as much as I hate the Cardinals. But Boy Wonder was just a bad hire, and even Mizzou fans deserve better. I know Majerus' name will be tossed around but Mizzou needs someone who will likely be there for the next 8-10 years and not someone whose health will always be in question. Snyder just needs to start over and coach at a lower level Divison I school and just move up from there. He was able to recruit pretty good talent, but was never able to develop it.

DePaul is going to get pantsed on national TV (ESPN) saturday when they play Villanova. Is there still time to rejoin Conference USA?

Sweet, now maybe we'll win some games.

Quin's time here was definitely memorable, that's for certain. I wish him the best in his future; he seemed like a nice guy.

He's definitely arrogant, and I could see how you feel that way. Just by listening to his weekly interviews from a local bar though, he seemed genuinely nice.

KARL HOBBS

I'm not sure if Alden is smart enough to even go after Hobbs let alone hire him. I could see him promoting Watkins or hiring MO State's coach.

So now can anyone tell me about some of the rumors that swirled around Quin for the past couple of years? Everyone says there's some shady stuff/people that he's been associated with, but never any details. By the way as an Iowa basketball fan I know how some absurd stuff can get spread when there's a basketball coach that is not well liked in his fan base. I've just always heard generalizations and been curious what the details were or if there could be any truth to it.

It does seem to be a given that he's got some friends in high places though. I have no idea how he wasn't previously fired after the results he had there and the problems with the NCAA.

Mizzou has the potential to be a power in that conference and very successful nationally if they make the right hire.

just please don't take Chris Lowery from SIU.

I hope not. Nothing against Lowery, but he hasn't coached with his own players yet, and I'd rather we have someone a little more established as a head coach. Matt Painter doesn't look like a great hire right now(although he may work out down the road), and I'm pretty sure that he was HC less than 4 years when he took over for Weber.
