Can't see Nomar being a DH. He doesn't provide enough power to be a DH. I could see Frank Thomas going to the Twins though.

Nomar would be a good choice at 3B for them. Piazza would be interesting.

I thought I heard that they either traded for or are contemplating bringing back their old 3b from Toronto.

Could we get ourselves in the middle of a Philly-Minnesota trade for Thome?

WHere in the heck would you play Thome? He can only play 1st or are you planning on dumping the younger and better Lee after the spectacular year he just had?

I think hes saying that Minnesota would acquire Thome, and we would set ourselves up to maybe take on Bobby Abreu ,or Jason Michaels, and a reliever from Minnesota in a deal like that.

Exactly. Minnesota had been rumored to be looking at Thome for a DH. Obviously they'd like to have a signifigant portion of his salary paid by Philadelphia.

I can see some sort of deal where Hunter and Romero are dealth from Minnesota, Philly deals Thome and Burrell or Michaels, and we give up some pitching and maybe Patterson, Walker.

Paul Rogers had an interesting take in Sunday's Trib, where he mentioned the possibility of Thome leaving Philadelphia. Rogers said the Cubs have no use for him now with DLee, but if the Cubs had signed him 3 years ago when Hendry had the chance, 2003 could have been the year we won it all.

Made me think for a moment.

Rogers is a douche, with nothing interesting to say......the Cubs were rightfully cautious about signing a player with a history of back problems to a huge deal.

Ryan wants to improve Minny's offense, putting Nomar at SS would do that. Give him 120 starts with periodic rest and hope he stays healthy. If they get a DH and a SS, offensively they'll take the next step.

Neither Paul Molitor nor Edgar Martinez had overwhelming power, yet they are two of the most effective DH's of all time.

Why? Was Thome going to move to shortstop?
