Iirc Cincy really wanted Pie @ the trade deadline. I guess Hendry will feel a lot more comfortable dealing off Pie, if he gets Pierre. Dunn seems to fit the philosophy of Hendry better than Abreu or Giles, as he several years younger.

Pie, Hill & Williams for Dunn may be able to do it. I like Williams, but he's seems to be a #3 pitcher at best.

Where did you hear that Cincy wanted Pie at the deadline?

Harvey, Hill, and Williams and you have yourselves a deal. I'd even throw in Nolasco. Do everything in your power not to trade Pie.

Probably from this board. My memory's not the greatest tho. :)

As for Dunn, the Cubs are insane if they don't offer Pie, though like others I don't see how Pie is of use to the Reds, they need pitching.

I would give the Reds their choice of ANY two pitchers in my minor league system, with Rich Hill, Jerome Williams and Roberto Novoa on the selection list too as major leaguers. Pick any two you like, and then if needed, we'll tweak the deal from there.

Unlike others here, I am not convinced Murton can't play RF. His arm is weak, so what? Sammy Sosa's was strong, but he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. All Murton needs to do is hit the cutoff man and he'll be fine. He has above average speed, so range is no issue.

I would be very excited about a 1-5 lineup of Pierre, Furcal, Lee, Dunn and Ramirez, you better believe it!!

MacDougal is way better than any of our in-house youth, with the possible exception of Wuertz.

Also, he's closed successfully before and I'm sure they'd like to have another guy in the bullpen with some closing experience.

He'll be cheap in terms of money and will only require a year-by-year commitment for the next three or four years.

Tell me why, if you don't mind? A career WHIP of 1.46 and ERA of 3.97 doesn't show me much. K/9 and K/BB are promising, but not dominating.

Would you all trade Z and Hill for Dunn, Freel and Kearns?

No, mainly because I don't want to deal Z and I don't really want Kearns. I would deal Pie for Dunn though.

Way back, if any of yoy remember it was mentioned that Hendry was looking at MacDougal from the Royals. I checked out his stats quickly, but nothing really blew me away at first glance. Is he somebody to get excited about. We have to trade for him. Would we be able to consoladte some of our BP arms to save some guys from Rule V?

I like MacDougal. He was pretty solid for them last year and was ebtter downt he stretch. If he can be had for cheap he might make a pretty good 7th or 8th inning guy for us depending how good Williamson will be.

What he said. And I'd add that I don't want Z traded w/in the division.

Trading Hill is fine. Why not trade Harvey instead of Pie? Pie can help the team next year, Harvey is three years away.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the guy I'd LEAST want to give up is Jerome Williams. He's only 23 and he's already an above average MLB pitcher. He's almost 2 years younger than Rich Hill and the same age as Guzman. Pie has zero plate discipline, he may find some eventually, but that could very likely be after the window has closed for this group.

I agree on the Jerome Williams assessment.

Because Harvey's value has slipped a bit.

Can't trade new draftees until the following June.

That's right. Not to hijack, but what's the reason for that rule?

soodmonger, and JeffH, there is a specific reason why draft picks are not allow to be traded till the until after the next yr's draft and that is.......this guy Pete Incaviglia .

Back in 1985 Incaviglia was considered the best college prospect in the draft, and the Expos took him 8th overall. But five months later he was dealt to the highest bidder---Texas--- for Jim Anderson and Bob Sebra. This deal was the straw that broke the camel's back. Thus is wasn't long after that the "Pete Incaviglia Rule" was introduce and disallow teams from trading draft picks till they have spent one yr in the organization.

Everybody knows I am not on the "Adam Dunn" bandwagon, cause I don't believe in the all-or-nothing skill Dunn has. I prefer a litte bit more versatility offensively. With that said, if the Cubs could get for say Williams/Nolasco and say Ryan Harvey, then go for it, but something tells me....Cincy won't move Dunn to a division rival. And personally I can't continue to talk about a player who I know WON'T be a Cub for another 2 week. Focus on players who realistically can get, not fantasies, and DUNN is clearly a fantasy baseball player.

And no, Pie won't be move for Pierre or Dunn.

Get it right. Its a bandWGN

I just wish there was a way to incorporate that sweet "Channel 9" logo in there. Remember that thing? I guess it could be an E? I dunno.

I'm not trading Z for anything less than Pujols, ARod or maybe M. Cabrera.

This brings tears to my eyes. I don't think I've ever had more influence over such a large group of people before.

Even if it's completely meaningless!

I am also not a huge fan of the 150 K but .380 OBP turnaround.

However - Dunn hitting inbetween or behind Lee and Ramirez = unadulterated gold.

I was thinking about Pie and Prior for Dunn and Kearns, then sign Furcal and A J Burnett. Weakens the starting pitching, but I love the lineup. Just hope Wood is healthy if we made that deal.

Starting Pitchers

Zambrano

Burnett

Wood

Maddux

Rusch

Lineup

Furcal (ss)

Cedeno (2b)

Lee (1b)

Dunn (lf)

Ramirez (3b)

Kearns (cf)

Murton(rf)

Don't know if Kearns can play cf or not. Either he or Murton would need to play cf.

I believe Kearns has played CF for Cincinnati before, so he'd probably be acceptable for the Cubs.

Nevertheless I wouldn't trade Prior at this point.

Wow, that's overpaying. Prior and Pie are worth far more than just Dunn and Kearns.
