somebody has to make the outs

We surely don't want anyone clogging the bases.

no the game ends quicker with out makers and then Dusty can go fishing

Neifi will start because he's a bass. Ronny is just a minnow. When you're fishing, everyone knows you need a bass before a minnow because when the catfish and carp come along, you'd rather have that bass. Now Derrek Lee he's my swordfish, but you only need one sword fish....

Hmm.. Tough decision. If the Braves indeed lock up Furcal I think Neifi will start and considering the incompetent manager we have and the bad luck the Cubs have I will vote for starter.

I can see Furcal at SS and a Neifi/Cedeno platoon at 2B, with Neifi getting all the starts vs. RHP's, which basically means Neifi is the starter.

but Neifi is a better hitter from the right side than from the left

It won't make any difference in how he's used.

The fact that Remlinger is better against RH batters than LH made no difference to Dusty and the fact that Neifi is better against LHP than RHP won't either.

If dusty does notice, that will be his reason for giving neifi all the starts.

Actually, neifi's better from the left side, but with less power, according to his 3-year splits.

Neifi, 2002-2004:

Left:.267/.297/.342

Right:.255/.288/.408

I appreciate the bitterness after a season where we saw 154 games of neifi, but without the injuries to walker, nomar, and then ramirez, neifi wouldn't have seen nearly that much time. if we were to stand pat right now, walker would start at second and cedeno would start at short. We all know that isn't final, but it will take a lot for hendry and baker to plan on starting neifi, something they never planned on doing last year.

Like the facts of nomar not returning and hendry's desired trade of walker?

Hendry won't trade Walker until he aquires Furcal or another middle infielder. And I see Nomar not returning as a good thing. It shows that Hendry has faith in Cedeno. Plus, Nomar doesn't have a great chance of getting through next season without seeing extensive time on the DL. After two seasons in a row of groin injuries following his achilles at the beginning of the 04 season, he's too much of a risk.
