His 5/50 contract from last year is now 4/40. While injury-prone, he is several years younger than Giles. The Dodgers fired their GM in part because of this move. If they want to dump some salary, does anybody here want to help? We can take Bradley off their hands too.

It's definitely intriguing. It'd be a gamble. But he continued to put up great numbers last year in limited time.

I'd be excited if it happened, but I'd be worried about a potential injury too.

On the plus side, we should be able to get LA to pick up some of that contract.

No sir. Cubs fans would be frustrated again and blame Hendry again for relying on too many injury prone guys when Wood, Prior, Drew and Ramirez all spend time on the DL next year.

Injuries are always a concern with Drew, but last season's situation wasn't really one of being fragile as being i a bad spot. (It was a 5/55 deal, by the way, not 5/50.) I'd be interested in taking the risk, if the Dodgers are interested in moving him, as a healthy Drew (I know, big if) is Giles minus 6 years. That'spretty good at 11 mil per. Edited by Warpticon

I'd be willing to gamble on Drew if the Dodgers made him available.

But only if they ate a large portion of his contract.

I would do it even without eating the contract. He has speed, obp, leftie, good avg..We do this if he is available. I wanted him last year.

I don't see why they would need to eat a "large" portion, or any portion for that matter.

He has 3 years at 10 million a year left. That isn't burdensome by any means. He can play RF, LF, or CF so he gives us the option at looking at multiple ways to build the team.

I think it is more likely the Dodgers will look to deal Bradley, but if the cost in players wasn't prohibitive, I'd take on Drew and the entire contract.

FYI, it's 4 years at 11 million per left. I'd love Drew or Bradley.

What's an extra million between friends?

A million dollars here, a million dollars there, pretty soon, you're talking about real money. Hon. Everett Dirksen

trade for drew, put him in center, and then whatever cockamamie plan hendry has for rf wont matter so much.

you just posted that because you thought it was awesome when DKWG said cockamamie.

Why does LA not only trade him, but pick up some of his contract?? This isn't an organization w/ financial troubles. They just have pr issues.

as has been said, i'd do it without LA picking up any of that deal, i'm not sure what it would take to get it done. probably not all that much if we're willing to ease the dodgers' load completely. bradley and drew would look great in right and center.

How about gettting Drew and putting him in CF, and sign Giles?

=P~

Walker 2b

Murton LF

Lee 1b

Giles RF

Ramirez 3b

Drew CF

Cedeno SS

Barrett C

Wow..wow...wow...wow.

STACKED!!

Probably not all that much? LA isn't Pittsburgh. The fans are pretty ticked @ them for being too cheap. They'd have to get back some name players for Drew.

if he was fired, in part, due to drew's contract, freeing up 44 mil for other purposes over the next 4 years might actually look like good thing for them. maybe they'd like to make a run at giles.

See, this exactly why we should have offered Drew the contract last year instead of talking about trades to get him here. Now that we have money to spend the FA class is the weakest it has ever been. Big problem Mr. Hendry.

After reading that lineup, I am having a cigarette. And I don't smoke.
