Hmmmm I know Kent's up there in years, but I prefer him over the ticking timebomb (Bradley). Also, I'd hate to have perennial DLer's as my 3 & 5 hitters. Not a bad idea tho.

.

The difference is that the upgrade from what we have in CF to Bradley would be much greater than the upgrade from Walker to Kent. Based on that alone, it would be better to get Bradley than Kent.

And just as people want to criticize Walker's defense, Kent is just as poor defensively.

Defence is a wash, which would make getting Furcal essential. Kent's ops has been about 80 points higher than Walker's over the past 4 years though.

I'm not opposed to Bradley in CF, but I wouldn't want to give up much to get him. He's an unstable dude.

But Kent's offensive numbers are far greater than Walker's. Bradley is a total nutcase, he will not be a Cub. Why all the love here for a constant malcontent like Milton Bradley? Milton Bradley is the last thing this team needs.

Do we really want JD Drew? The man has only had 1 season where he's played more than 135 games and that was with Atlanta in 2004 during his FA year. He only played in 72 games last year, only 10 more games than Nomar did. I thought we were trying to get healthier. I'd pass on Drew. I wouldn't be against trading for Bradley for CF though.

Why is Drew's substantial injury history being ignored in this discussion?

And, BTW, it is that injury history that makes me want LA to eat some contract. They over paid for a guy who's played 140-plus games once in seven years (may be twice).

I suppose no one is untouchable in the strictest sense, but Hendry has pretty much intimated that Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Carlos Zambrano and Mark Prior are going nowhere.

if we kept everything realisitic and just had discussions involving moves that hendry would actually consider, we'd have nothing but threads about picking up burnitz's option and giving preston wilson a 4 year contract.

Ouch!

Wood & Walker for Drew & Kent. Kerry's wife may not mind leaving Chicago, if he buys her an oceanfront home in Malibu. :)

That's not a bad deal, but with the money tied into Lowe and Penny, I'm not sure the Dodgers take Wood and his health concerns.

LA should be able to maintain a budget around $85-90 million, w/ McCourt still making a killing. Thus they should be able to fit Wood into their rotation. Also, LA may just move Odalis Perez, to clear some payroll.

If Hershiser becomes manager or GM, I can see LA going back to 80's where they relied on a dominant pitching staff. Lasorda, who's a major consultant, may endorse that direction too.

Thanks - I just threw up in my mouth.

I agree oldcubsfan! Bradley is a head case! Why would we want him? Didn't we have enough problems with problem children in 2004? We don't want the game maker on this team at all!

Let's just forget about trading with LA. I wouldn't want Bradley (offensive numbers notwithstanding), Choi, or Kent. I'd rather have Drew, but his injury problems would concern me. Not as much as Bradley's erratic behavior, though.

We signed Dusty as manager partially because he is supposed to be able to handle head-cases like Bradley. I say it's time for Dusty to earn his keep. If Bradley is being offered on the cheap, the Cubs should jump all over it.

Look at 2004, though. We had a team full of head-cases and look what happened to the team. Although I would've liked to have kept Moises.

Look what happened in 2005. We had great chemistry in the club house and finished worse than in 2004. Give me the talent to win and hope the chemistry takes care of itself.

AJ. Alphabet was supposedly a horrible clubhouse guy. The White Sox win and he's a now a great guy according to team mates. Winning usually fixes most problems. I think we'd have a better chance of winning with Bradley.
