Is this BA/OBP/SLG? If so I will go with .280/.330/.510.

murton put up his best iso ever this year and it was right at 200, so i dont see a 230 happening

I agree with that. I'm not sure where you came up with .250/.305/.390, though.

I see a .280/.340/.400 line. I don't think his year was a fluke. He had a sufficent number of AB's, and his batting eye should prevent hm from going into prolonged slumps

I can't believe I'm being optimistic

.301/.363/.457/.820

I think these numbers will be right around where he'll be if he gets a chance to play everyday. I hope he has a fast start to the season though. Otherwise he's doomed.

.325/.390/.515, 18 HR, 82 RBI, 14 SBs. Dude can hit, give him a chance.

I just started drooling.

By the way, BgBird, welcome from a fellow recent addition to the board!

Thanks MPrior. I've posted before, I just changed my screen name.

I think you can PM Tim and he can change your name without losing all your old info.

Getting the starting job won't be as hard as keeping it. I'd like to think Dusty will allow Matt to play through some slumps, but I'm skeptical.

huh...whats that supposed to mean???

Only Cub fans could ask whether Murton should be starting in LF next year. With what he has shown so far, people in NY would be proclaiming him the next superstar. Murton has done a great job in every situation he has been in, so why wouldn't he be the starting LF?

Maybe he should have replaced "Cub fans" with "Baker". .

I think the Kid will BE a superstud. Not an all-star, but close to it. The guy has shown EXTREME patience at the plate. You know when I watch ball games I get one of two feelings when our team is up. Either the nervous "oh no I hope we get a hit and score a run" when watching the likes of patterson or burnitz. Or the "ahh this guy will probably get a hit" when watching the likes of Lee or Murton. Murton makes me relax when he is at the plate because I have confidence something good will happen EVERY time he is up to bat. We need more hitters like this on this team. He will be one of the positives next year. Working the count, making the pitcher sweat, taking walks, getting timely hits.

I hope Murton will be our Starting LF for many years to come.

What I meant was that we have 7 pages of discussion on whether Murton should be our starting LF next year and, with his stats, many other team's fans would consider it a given that he would be starting.
