That said, Busch has been the host of 6 World Series

Did you know that Wrigley has also hosted 6 World Series?

Very minor correction, actually Wrigley has hosted five. The Cubs played their home games in the 1918 World Series at Comiskey Park, due to the greater capacity at the time.

Yeah, I remember reading about that during the Red Sox series last summer now that you mention it. Thanks for the correction.

did the new stadium fall in the river yet?

That would be quite an accomplishment, and bad news for the downtown area it demolished as it rolled toward the Mississippi.

Just wait for the New Madrid to shake again.

This is by far the weirdest new baseball construction i've seen. When have we seen a city try to build a new stsdium next to an old oe when the lot isn't big enough for both? No wonder demolition of the old is damaging the new

When they were going to build a new Fenway, the two footprints would have crossed. And I think the new Yankee stadium might be built the same way.

From what I understand there's plenty of room for the new Yankee Stadium, that's why they're leaving the old one open as a museum for at least a few years following the completion of the new one.

Another large piece of the south east section came down about twenty minutes ago and you still cant see across the street because of all the dust. You cant see what color vehicles are parked in the garage because of the "film" of dust covering them. Hard to breath also.

Looks like they're almost halfway done with tearing down Busch II. Picture from KMOV webcam:

wouldn't it have been quicker to give steroid enraged McGwire a sledgehammer and whack away at the walls.....by the way my brother-in-law bought two of the Busch seats, and I think I am going to have to stick my gum under one of them

There might already be some there. They did not wash down ANY of the purchased seats. So in a couple months if there is a wierd stench you may suggest getting rid of the crap. I have heard of authentic, but you would think the price that people paid for those they could at least make them sanitary.

This is the view taken about 5 minutes ago from the Stadium East garage. That building is the Federal Building which you couldnt see a day and a half ago. I would say about 1/4 of the stadium left to go.

There are A LOT of people out here. Lots of cars too. There are about twice as many people on the west side of the stadium.

Things just get weirder:

New Resident in Old Busch Stadium

? are deer strange and unusual in st louis?

In suburban areas? Yes. In downtown St. Louis? No.

But then again look at how deserted downtown St. Louis is. If terrorists set off a small nuclear device during a non-game evening in downtown St. Louis, the only people they would kill would be the few lonely cleaning crews, some security guards and maybe a dozen hotel guests.

Any time I've been to St. Louis when there isn't a Cardinal game, the downtown is a ghost town.

I think that's probably true for most small-market baseball cities. Using Chicago as your curve is a little unreasonable. Chicago is on another level.

Police think it wondered over from near the Mississippi River.

I wonder what it was wondering about (while wandering :D ).

Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa are more happening at night than St. Louis.

I don't know about Cedar Rapids, but Iowa City is a major college town, and you're right....... it's bustling. Of course, there's not much "downtown" to cram everybody into, so it's going to look a little busier.

I love the Dublin Undergound and whatever the name of the pizza place above it is.
