So I thought it might be fun to guess where some of last year's managers end up. These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head who haven't secured jobs for next year. If there is a firing or resignation (hopefully involving Baker this offseason), feel free to add them to the list.

Lloyd McLendon - Bench coach somewhere

Jim Tracy - Pittsburgh skipper

Lou Piniella - Either a year out of baseball or a position with the Yankees.

Alan Trammell - Los Angeles. No reason, just a hunch.

Jack McKeon - Retired. Out for good.

Any thoughts?

McKeon is remaining with the Marlins in a front office capacity.

Anyone see that Paul Sullican reported this morning that Rothschild could be headed to Detroit to be pitching coach? Hendry said that he hasn't received a call asking for permission to talk to him so it's still in the early stages.

Apparently Kranitz would be in line as replacement.

Ken Macha can be added to the list now too. Doesn't he have ties to Pittsburgh? If that's the case, I wonder if the Pirates would go for him or Tracy. Also, would Macha go to LA instead of (hopefully) Dusty?

I've heard a rumor that Florida is going to contact the Yankees about talking to Joe Girardi.

(From Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN)

Girardi's been given permission to speak with Florida. Wouldn't be surprised if he takes it. However, things could get complicated if NYY loses tomorrow. Wouldn't put it past Steinbrenner to throw a fit and fire Torre in a rash decision. Then would NYY have the ability to grab Girardi back or would it be Girardi's decision after that?

If the Cubs didn't fire Dusty during the season when it might have made a difference, I'm not so sure he will this offseason. Though it would be nice.

I keep hearing these "reports" that Hendry is convinced Dusty is a great manager. I never put much stock in the media, but there were a couple points during the season where I thought a managerial change might have provided a boost and could have made a difference. Yet none was made...

I want a manager that is simply not a moron, and can make me laugh. That's all I want. Not a "mastermind". Not a "player's manager". For those reasons, I want one of the two: "Sneaky" Valentine or "Stolen Base" Lloyd. They preformed what are possibly the funniest feats managers have ever accomplished in a game.

McClendon got into a VERY heated arguement with the first base ump, and was thrown out of the game. In a fit of rage and hillariousness, he picked up first base, and literally stole it, taking it into the club house with him while still screaming his lungs out at the ump.

Second place goes to Bobby V, for a game the Mets played against the Cubs. I can't even remember why he got tossed, but he did, and left to the club house...only to come back to the bench wearing a fake glasses/mustache combo thing that you might see a little kid wear that was dressing up as a spy for Hollowween. He sat there at the edge of the bench with one hand over his face, giving calls to the other coaches. It was priceless. He would have gotten away with it too, but the WGN cameras spotted him, and he was later fined for it.

I really want one of these two great men.

Hershiser is now being mentioned as a candidate for the A's job.

The A's list of managerial candidates has expanded to include Texas Rangers pitching coach Orel Hershiser, according to A's assistant general manager David Forst.

Hershiser has done well as a pitching coach in Texas. It would be interesting to see how he would fare as a manager.

Bowa being mentioned for the A's job is very intriguing.
