What was the pre-game meeting about last night? Was it just general, "Lets end the season with our heads high," or something more specific?

It certainly was nice to see that after an organizational meeting, Neifi Perez is still leading off.

Obviously, the most glaringly obvious of issues with what is wrong with this team was not discussed.

Kangaroo court. There were a lot of laughs as we walked in after the "court" session ended.

You weren't subject to being fined in absentia for your constant violations of touting OBP in your articles, were you?

Unless it ended with Baker being fined his 2005 salary for complete ineptitude, and Perez being fined $100 for every walk below the league average he didn't take, I can't think of a more unproductive meeting. :P

And I am dissapointed it wasn't like an Amway presentation from Oneri Flieta.

That might have been a hefty fine, judging by our team OBP outside of Lee and Ramirez.

Of course. What wasn't fun about this year?

Macias: Ok, guys. I have this great idea. I'll be the "captain" and I'll have 5 "co-pilots" who will pay me $100,000 each. They will each enlist 10 "passengers" who will pay them...

That might be the only scenario in which Macias could be a captain of anything...

Nothing like a loss after a player meeting. I guess he doesn't inspire them as much as people think....

I'm sure Murton got a nice lecture about his base running gaff the other night....

Neifi probably didn't have to attend since he's Dusty's lead off hitter....

More or less, I'm guessing that Baker will do anything and everything to salvage a winning season for his own personal selfish reasons. The fact the team (as he assembles it) wouldn't make it with the way they were playing forced him to sit down with the team and inspire them to make it happen.

After all, if Baker can guide this team to a 82-80 record by season's end, he will be able to once again use "but we had a winning record" to blow off the important questions like "what are you going to do to improve this horrible team?".

When it's time for his next job, he'll want to put 3 straight winning season's with one of the losingest major league franchises on his resume'. I think that's his only real inspiration.

Unfortunately for Dusty, I think his plan will backfire. Mainly because his refusal to acknowledge that his own philosophies on managing a baseball team are making it impossible for this team to finish with a winning record.

"So....how can we torture Cub fans now? Putting Perez at the leadoff spot was great so what can we do to top that...any ideas?"

"Well, we sit Barrett -- even though he's healthy -- along with Murton and Nomar and we play Patterson, Blanco, Hairston and Macias!"

Hairston - LF

Perez - SS

Lee - 1B

Burnitz - RF

Walker - 2B

Macias - 3B

Patterson - CF

Blanco - C

I think Baker has already used that lineup. :x

While I understand the frustration and anger towards Dusty; I don't see him getting this team TO the .500 mark much less above it.

Just goes to show you the mentality the manager and some of these players have where they would find any fo this a joke,

To be fair, I would prefer them to be having fun to not having fun.

Of course if the options were "having fun" and "winning," I would take winning.

Last week when I was at the game it was the same players, but Neifi and Macias were at the top of the order! :pukel:

I disagree. This season has not been fun for me, nor for almost any other Cubs fan. I want them to feel the same way I do.
