Dunn every day of the week. Wilkerson is still solid, especially for a CF, but he's not near Dunn's production.

Agreed. Dunn is also 2+ years younger than Wilkerson.

Depends a lot on cost. Staight up, no questions asked I'd go for Dunn. But if Dunn cost a ton and Wilkerson came easily and the Cubs could find an impact corner OF bat elsewhere, I wouldn't mind settling on Wilkerson.

dunn would cost way too much and is a liability in the field.

wilkerson is a better all around player imo and i hope the cubs can swing a cp for wilkerson type deal.

I'm not sure how it is right now, but earlier in the season when I was looking at him Wilkerson was just being crushed by RFK. If Bowden doesn't see that, though, it may be an opportune time to inquire about his availability.

BTW - would we be considering Wilkerson for CF? Murton, Wilkerson, Giles would look awfully nice. Wilkerson could also hit leadoff for this team, which would be a bonus.

What would he cost, approximately?

There isn't a significant difference in Wilkerson's home/road splits this season.

Home: .234/.362/.391

Away: .264/.342/.421

But the NL East is filled with pitcher's parks (with the exception of Philly), so I do think a move to the NL Central would improve his numbers to last season's form.

Especially at Wrigley.

With the new influx of "hitters parks" all over baseball, Wrigley has been moved from a "hitters park" to somewhat neutral when compared to the other stadiums. But the fences are still the same distance they were 15 years ago. He could hit here.

Would we? Yes. Would Hendry or Baker? I doubt it. He's doesn't swing enough for either guy and he doesn't steal enough for Dusty. Remember, Dusty wants everything, and Wilkerson isn't an all around toolsy player.

I think he could become available, as an arby eligible player coming off a down year.

how about murton, damon or lofton (if they would sign a 1 yr deal) & wilkerson? wilkerson has 35-40 hr power in wrigley so i wouldnt mind seeing him sandwiched between lee & aram and having damon or lofton leading off.

Somehow, I doubt that.

he hit 39 2b's with 32 hr's for the expos in 2004 so maybe 30-35 is a better range than 35-40.

they both strike out too much, which means they suck and wouldn't help us achieve a "balanced" lineup. plus, dunn's terrible in the field, which means he sucks. did i mention that they strike out too much, which menas that they suck?

wilkerson strikes out alot but he also walks alot 106 bb/152 k's in 04.

Didn't Wilkderson hurt his shoulder early in the season and has just been playing through it all year because it will require surgery? I was always under the impression that his power numbers have declined due to this.

EDIT: injured forearm and shoulder.

Sarcasm is fun. Sulley loves walks so much his first born's name is going to be B.B.

I'll take both

Give Cincy a pick of Guzman or Dope plus Bacon and Williams

Give Washingon Patterson and Patterson and Mitre or Nolasco

Probably not realistic and not what you were asking for, but I'm getting giddy with end of the season trade talk.

End of the season? There's still plenty of time left to accomplish the most important goals, like seeing what that kid Maddux can do for us next year, and rewarding the veterans like Neifi who got us here, and getting the kids like Murton to learn from real pros like Burnitz.

Alright folks, I got a fun question for all of you.

Which would you rather have, Dunn or Wilkerson? If neither, explain why.

Let me see......I'd take Wilkerson.

Dunn power is unbelieveable, no doubt, but when I see Wilkerson, I see a player who can help a team win in many different areas. Power, speed, hitting, defensively, or flat hussling, he helps a team in so many areas. Whereas Dunn, well, if he can't hit the homerun, then he is pretty useless ballplayer. I like Wilkerson versatility over Dunn's power.
