Only if he hires Tonya Harding to smack Neifi in the knee with a tire iron. Cedeno is never getting 5+ starts a week on this team. Ever.

That's how I can express it.

Though the game was lopsided at the end, the key moment came in the sixth when shortstop Ronny Cedeno's run-scoring single capped a nine-pitch at-bat that gave the Cubs a 4-3 lead. Cedeno went 2-for-4 with two RBIs

Has Neifi Perez had a 9 pitch at-bat this year?

Neifi had a 13 pitch at-bat earlier this year.

That's surprising, but it's very exceptional. The only non-pitcher on the Cubs with a lower p/pa ratio is Adam Greenberg, and it's not really fair to blame him for his 1.0 p/pa.

Neifi has the fifth lowest p/pa in the majors among qualified batters.

It is possible to be successful having that kind of approach at the plate, but you have to be a freak like Vlad Guerrero (one of 4 players in the majors who sees fewer pitches than Neifi).

Sometimes I really want to feel sorry for Neifi, because its not HIS fault he plays every game, but then I realise that he DOES do things that make it worse. Like this.

Neifi usually doesn't see 9 pitches per GAME, let alone in one at bat.

Blame Adam? If I remember correctly, he did manage to get a runner on first with that AB.

Neifi is horrible. He swings and fouls off the bad pitches and watches the good ones go right over the plate. It's ridiculous.

Did anyone see the AB? I give Cedeno props for the hit but every, i mean every pitch he fouled off was a ball. One almost hit him and a few almost hit the plate.

By saying this, Cedeno has sealed his fate. Remember Dusty's reaction to Hairston saying he wanted more playing time? Bench city.
*sigh*

You nailed it.

Doesn't matter. A walk doesn't do us any good in that situation, it would only have brought up who, Corey? He fouled off some pitches, battled a good major league starter for 8 pitches and made him pay for a mistake. I'd take an AB like that everytime up even if he is fouling off would-be balls.

I hate to say it, but I thought Cedeno's words were a little presumptuous. I don't think a rookie should give any hint of demanding playing time, even if everyone knows he deserves it.

that hit by cedeno didn't count. the marlins didn't have a 'book' on him yet, so it's unfair to give him credit for the hit. that's why you can't judge rookies late in the season. duh.

but what reason could anyone have playing a lineup at this point of the season that featured, nomar at 3rd,neifi at ss, walker at 3rd, hairston in center, holla in left and burnitz in right?

first, i know corey has been bad but dusty throws him out there everyday no matter who is pitching. he faces all the tough lefties and then he sits vs a so-so righty!? huh?

if we are going to be horrid and play brutal defense why not be brutal with some young guys?

that's right and according to suttcliff he needs to be rewarded for his outstanding play early in the season. he did get on base three times...as the ESPN guys kept reminding us. It was almost if Sut was trying to rationalize Dusty's bad decision.
