I hate Andruw Jones.

One of these times, he's gonna cost his team a HUGE game because he lolly-gagged a catch, thus muffing it and allowing a crucial baserunner and/or runs to score because of it.

Let me defend Andruw for a second here. He's not lolly-gagging, he's just that good. Sure, if you or I were out there we'd probably feel most secure camping under the ball and catching with two hands. Andruw obviously doesn't need to do that. I can remember two defensive miscues by him (not that I watch him all the time, but still):

1. He went to catch it like he always does, it hit the heel of his glove and fell out, bounced off his knee, and he caught it bare-handed, not unlike Corey on Monday night.

2. He didn't hustle after a short fly ball that dropped in front of him, and Cox immediately pulled him from the game. I am sure he (Andruw) will never do that again.

He's the best outfielder I've ever seen, and with his hitting this year, he's one of the first guys I would take to start a team.

Being good is no excuse for a half-baked attempt. Do what you are supposed to do and that ball does not bounce off the heel of his glove. (Yes he did ctach t hat one you mentioned, but I have seen others fall)

I'm just sitting here wondering is their anyway or does anybody know to find out how many pitches we have seen as an offensive team vs. how many pitches our pitchers have thrown?? While I suspect their would be a huge differential it would be interesting to know.

Pitching we throw 3.84/PA (Tied for highest in ML)

Batting we see 3.61/PA (2nd worst in ML)

but, thats ok cause we had such a great bullpen this year.

just checked the boxscore at work and am compelled to write something here.

I know he's a stud, everybody's hero, perfect mechanics, sufferer of fluke injuries, blah blah blah...but Mark Prior has got to break off this love affair with the strikeout and start pitching to some contact.

this is a pitcher who everyone claims has great control, yet he keeps putting up pitch counts that are completely incongruous to his innings pitched. he goes 0-2 to 3-2 faster than I go from birdie to bogey on the golf course. an out is an out, and Mark needs to start getting more of them with fewer pitches.

its reached the point of absurdity. game after game the guy can't make it out of the sixth inning.

Maybe I'm just dumb but isn't the approach that get's us ^^^^^^^ those results the root of our evil?

Lawton didn't try... he should have beat that out, regardless of Furcal's arm or not.

Didn't see the play (watching online)

BUT>>>>

Aramis's injury spooked him, was afraid he would tear up his leg as well.

then he should sit. it isn't too hard to hustle. reguardless of talent, hustle is something every player can do.

If he has had that happen other times and it's dropped, then I am mistaken. I'd be surprised if it Cox lets him get away with continuing to play that way if it has cost the team outs. Nevertheless, I don't think they are half-baked attempts or lolly-gagging. It looks like he's barely putting any effort into it, but just because it looks scary doesn't mean he doesn't have it all the way. If he hit consistently like he has this year, I'd trade him straight up for anyone on the Cubs.

Might as well forfeit the rest of the games then if everyone is scared to leg out a ground ball because of what happened to one injury prone guy (this year) on one play.

Lee: "Get out of the way, midget, its mine!!"

Yeah. If Macias injured our other corner guy, oh man, I know what I'd do!

How's that for lolly-gagging a catch, eh circlechange??

Jerkov deserves it.

He could have camped under that but "ole"d it instead.

And what the hell was Cox doing pitching to Lee anyways. Not so smart after all.
