Is it a left on base when they are picked off? Just curious.

Nevermind I see that you changed it.

I heard Baker's reasoning for sending down Murton was that we are in a playoff race and you can't have rookies out there learning the game and making mistakes.

You know we are in trouble when are veterans are consistently making rookie mistakes.

Outstanding. Great work, Fred. Remind me to hire you when I finally get my dream job of Cubs play-by-play broadcaster. You've got some of the best filler I've ever seen.

Count on it !!

CUBS are 48-23 when they throw less than 17 pitches per inning.... 11-39 when they don't

Settle down, Mark.

Go CUBS !!

That is simply amazing, Fred. You can't possibly track that, can you? You have got to be making that up.

It's very real. You'd be amazed what you can do with a good database program !!

edit:... not only that..... CUBS are 15-10 when the temperature is 85 degrees or above

He'd be like the guy from Little Big League.

"well here's something to keep in mind, Johnson is hitting .300 against pitchers he's facing for the first time, against teams north of the Mason-Dixon Line, who don't play their home games in a dome."

You know whats funny about this. Dusty said something in the papers to the effect of he can't always play the rookies because they are expected to be prepared to play baseball and not make rookie mistakes. He can't give them on the job training in the middle of a playoff race.

Yet even the veterans and Dusty himself continually make dumb mistakes. Oh well...this series kinda seemed like a trap series to me anyways.

Actually, I watched my version taped off TV last week. That and Rookie of the Year.

Okay, lets all take a step back and gain a bit of perspective for a moment.

Here is what's so:

We are going into the top of the 4th inning. The game is tied at 1. Prior has thrown 62 pitches through 3 innings. Everything else is in the past.

Walker was pretty clearly safe on that play at first.

For those of us who don't have the benefit of TV, are you speaking of when he got picked off and are you being serious?

...... in Tuesday afternoon games, against a catcher with a CERA under 2.50, when the temperature is over 85 degrees, when the attendence is less than 24,000, when the team has won it's previous 3 grames, in games that open a road trip......................................
