Gregory Allan Maddux (9-9, 4.54) vs Andrew Eugene Pettitte (10-8, 2.62)

I can't seem to shake Mad Dog. He's pitched two games I've been at this year, he pitched my first game thread on May 5th, and he's pitching my 2nd game thead. In those 3 previous games, Maddux is 0-3. Here's hoping he and I can turn this thing around. =D>

The Cubs are 42-54 since my last game thread, but this is the thread that will jump-start a winning streak!!

They used to own it at Minute Maid. It's time to start playing like it.

Go CUBS !!

Although i dislike Baker and still think he has to go, he has been putting a consistent lineup and pretty much an ideal one with the roster which we have. It's obvious now that our starting pitching is terrible and grossly overrated. I think Z and Prior are capable of ERAs in the 2s. Wood obviously hurt and cant start, Maddux should change his name to old dog, and our other pitchers are just bad.

Hopefully Rusch was just rusty yesterday from not pitching a great amount on one day recently. He should have been our 5th starter from the beginning of the season.

Let's hope but too bad chances are it really won't matter this year.

Not sure if Dusty understands the importance of these games.

I would think if you were going to rest Walker, do it this weekend against Colorado....oh well

Edit: Blanco to catch Maddux was a pretty good call though

hahaha. Neifi Perez hitting 2nd.

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

If Baker must play Neifi, at least he is doing it against a lefty. Neifi actually is somewhat useful vs lefties. (.295 .309 .505). He has some power as a right handed hitter and we all know about his range. After seeing about 50 seeing eye grounders get through the infield yesterday, I don't mind seeing him in there. By the way, vs lefties Walker is at .369 .406 .662, so go figure. I'd have rather seen Perez at short tonight, as Nomar's at .219 .257 .219 vs lefties. Actually, as long as Nomar's goal at the plate seems to be to pull everything they chuck up there on the ground, I'm ok with Neifi in there, provided it's vs lefties, and lefties only. I'd rather he was in the 6 hole, though.

Here's the rub, he doesn't have to play Neifi. There are no rules saying everyone of your players gets a certain amount of starts.

Dustyism at its finest. Just when I said he has been putitng in a good lineup.
